“Your lips sparkled in the light,” I went on, punctuating the words with my tongue lapping over her earlobe.

She tilted her head to the side, giving me clear access.

“And your skin glowed,” I continued, my lips trailing a path along her jawline.

She sucked in a breath.

“You were stunning,” I said, my hands tracing the contours of her body. “And I couldn’t take my eyes off of you.” My voice was a low murmur against her ear, and I could feel her shiver in response.

“I want you,” I said.

She slowly turned to face me. “Me too.”

The words were music to my ears.

I leaned in closer, my intent clear. But just before our lips met, she gently pushed me away, placing a finger on my chest as if to say wait. The look in her eyes was part playful, part serious, and it made my heart pound harder against my ribs.

“I might have done something,” she said.

“Done something? What does that mean?”

She smiled and downed the last of her champagne. “You’ll find out soon enough.”

I had no idea what that meant. “Am I going to like this thing you’ve done?”

“I think so,” she said, smiling.

I had no idea what she was talking about. I just wanted her. I put my glass down and took her empty one. I grabbed her face and let the hunger I had been trying to squash for days take over.

Our lips met in a heated exchange, and my hands roved over her body, eager to explore every inch of her. After a moment, she pulled back slightly, her eyes dancing with mischief.

“Just a minute,” she said breathlessly, gently prying herself from my hold. She turned around and presented me with her back. “Unzip me.”

I happily obliged. I only got the zipper down a couple of inches before I discovered her surprise. Red velvet graced the back of my fingers. “What’s this, Waverly?”

“We were allowed to take what we wore,” she replied. “I thought you might like this.”

A second later, she stepped out of the gown and revealed the red velvet lingerie set. My breath hitched as my eyes took in the sight. With her back still turned to me, she glanced over her shoulder and gave me a sultry smile that went straight to my groin. The sight of her, so vulnerable yet so bold, made my heart pound harder.

“You’re full of surprises,” I managed, my voice rough with desire.

She laughed, a sweet feminine sound that made me want to hold her even closer. She sauntered toward me, and the suggestive sway of her hips was hypnotizing.

“Woman, you turn me inside out.”

She turned fully to face me now, her lips curving into a slightly mischievous smile. “Well, that was the intention.”

I drew in a sharp breath at her boldness, the electricity between us crackling palpably. She was close enough now to touch, and I couldn’t resist drawing her further into my arms. The feel of velvet against my skin was intoxicating, the scent of her hair driving me wild. I let my hands roam freely, treasuring every dip and arch of her body.

“Come here,” I growled, unable to keep the hunger from my voice.

She obeyed willingly, her body melting against mine as my lips found hers once again. The taste was intoxicating. It felt like electricity was humming through my veins. She had turned me on more than I could ever explain.

My hands roamed over her body as she jerked at my shirt. She was suddenly a wildcat. Her hands slid under my shirt, her nails scraping over my flesh. I jerked with a combination of pleasure and pain. I sucked in a breath through my teeth. She pulled at me.

“Patience,” I whispered against her lips, but the word came out more like a groan.

“Patience? That’s rich coming from you.” Her hands traced fiery paths along my torso.
