“Waverly,” I called. “My office, please.”

“Coffee?” she asked with a sigh.

“Yes and you.”

I thought I heard her mutter something under her breath. “What was that?”

“Nothing. I’ll be there in a minute.”

I smiled and walked away. I knew she was pissed at me. Whether it was because I kissed her or pulled her off Benjamin’s case, I didn’t know, but she didn’t like me. I shouldn’t care. I was her boss. It didn’t matter if she liked me.

A few minutes later, she walked in with my usual coffee. “I called Richard’s pilot. I assume that’s who you typically use.”

“Yeah, that works. When do we leave?”

“Tomorrow morning.”

“Good. I want to get a couple of suits.”

“Suits?” she asked with her brow raised.

“Yes. I think this requires a more professional appearance. I have a couple of suits back home, but they’re in storage. I don’t suppose there is any chance I can find a place in town that sells suits and I don’t mean Wal-Mart.”

She scowled at me. “I don’t think Wal-Mart sells suits.”

“I need a tailor. I have a particular look I’m going for. I can’t wear something off the rack.”

“Heaven forbid,” she muttered. “You won’t find Armani, but your grandfather had a tailor he trusted. I’m sure he could put something together for you.”

“By the time we leave?”

“I don’t know,” she said, shrugging. “I guess you’ll have to find out.”

“Call and make me an appointment.”

“I’m not sure he can get you in on such short notice.”

“Tell him who I am,” I said.

She rolled her eyes. “I’ll try. Is that it?”

“That’s it.”

She walked out, once again muttering under her breath. I should be pissed or irritated with her insubordination, but it just turned me on to be perfectly honest. It awoke a small fantasy involving me throwing her on my desk and fucking that frown right off her face.

Ten minutes later, she popped back in my office. “If you can get there in twenty minutes, he’ll make time for you,” she said.

“Thanks.”

I made my way to the address she had given me. It wasn’t anything like I was used to, but I needed a jacket.

The tailor ushered me into his dressing room and immediately started taking measurements. “I just happen to have a few suits on hand that were recently ordered but never picked up. I believe we can fit them to you.”

I hated the idea of what was essentially hand-me-downs. “Fine. I’d like to see them.”

We went into his showroom. I was inspecting the three suits when I heard a familiar voice.

“This town is too small.”
