The moment I read the title of the papers some of that ire dissipated. “Thank you.”

He chuckled. “You are very, very odd. I have no idea why you are in need of those.”

“Getting to know my future wife,” I said, flicking through birth certificates, midwife notes, tutor notes and many other documents from her growing years.

“The only information those will give you is that she wailed, had a nappy rash and breastfed twice a day.”

“As I said, getting to know her.” I folded them neatly to my side and turned to him again. “Tell me.”

He groaned and dropped his head forward. “This is an obsession, your future Majesty. What makes you think my father will let you marry her?”

“Because I already have the approval of mine.”

He shot up. “What? You asked him?”

I nodded.

“And he said yes?”

“Would be good for our kingdoms. He thought of the idea very king-like of me.”

His eyes were wide. “Nubil and his blessed crown. You are insane.”

“Obeying her order.”

“She is a child. You are a child too. You both are children.”

“And soon we won’t be.”

“She...she…she is not an Aura.”

“Whatever life she lives, I will too. I won’t prolong my life. I will age.”

He gaped wildly at me. “You are insane.”

“Devoted.”

“No, no. Insane,” he said, still not blinking and then he laughed. “You think you will like her?”

“I already do. What you have told me, I think I will more than like her. Tell me some more.”

“She set the hall on fire last week.”

It was then I laughed. Last time I’d laughed was when Eren had told me she’d tied up a soldier and stuffed his mouth with snow for calling her a crow. My brother paused from where he was playing and gaped at me for some reason. Eren too.

“What about heirs?” he asked, narrowing his eyes on me.

“What heirs?”

“Yours. Who will succeed Adriata?”

“Does she not want any?”

“What if she can’t give you children? What if it is too dangerous? She is part Olympian and part Isjordian.”

“She is still human. It will not be an issue.”

“But—”
