“Say what you mean, and mean what you…say, beloved,” I growled lowly in her ear, watching the hair on the back of her neck stand.

“I…I missed you, too, Nazir,” she moaned back.

Hearing her tell me that she felt the same way shattered me. It made my heart hurt because she spent so much time missing me. We had spent so much time missing each other. Missing out on a life together, kids, and a marriage that would have made my parents proud.

“I’m not going nowhere, baby. You believe me?”

Her body tightened, and the pitch of her moans became higher as her nails dug deeper. I felt her coming before she could say anything. Her walls caved in, becoming tighter while pulling me in. Her breaths were labored as she bit down on my shoulder, screaming in the process.

“Zirrrrrrrr!” she screeched as she came down hard.

I felt her body jerking in my arm before she went limp. Her eyes remained closed tightly as her breath calmed down, and her legs around me loosened. My name fell from her lips like she had screamed it into her pillow, wanting me.

Needing me.

I increased my speed. The sight of her reaching her peak had me ready for mine. My lips brushed against her neck while I felt myself about to go over the edge. Holding her in place, I spilled inside of her.

We both laid there sweaty, breathing hard, and fucking pulled apart and undone. Still, I remained inside of her, resting my forehead against hers. She couldn’t move, and I damn sure couldn’t move. Fuck, I didn’t want to move. This wasn’t just sex for us. It was tension that had been building during our time away from one another.

Anger.

Love.

And regret.

This shit felt like redemption to me––like she was welcoming me back and letting me know I couldn’t leave her again.

On my seeds and even the unborn ones, I wasn’t going to let her go again. Leaving wasn’t an option, and I needed her to know that.

I was home.

Chapter Sixteen

Yaya

The city’s lights lit up the dark room. Even though I had closed the balcony door, I left the curtains open. The light illuminated Jonah’s face as he continued to stare at me. All emotions were out in the open, so the room was quiet. Everything felt calm right now, and I embraced that.

I needed calm.

Jonah remained on the edge of the bed, one hand resting low on my back like he wasn’t ready to let me out of his arms. He wanted me to stay right here because the second I moved, all of this would be a thing of the past. As if he knew it would never happen again if he let me go.

Neither of us said a word. We didn’t need to. Our breaths were enough as we listened to the faint hum of the central air in the room. I slowly removed myself from his lap and crawled over toward the place I had been sitting before he pulled me over toward him. I pulled my legs up to my chest, hugging them tightly. My oversized shirt slipped off one shoulder, and before I could fix it, his hand reached out and gently pulled the fabric back into place.

His fingers brushed against my bare skin, sending shivers down my spine. It was how gentle he was that caused that pesky-ass lump to appear in my throat. I tried to swallow it back down, but staring into this man’s eyes was emotional for me.

Allowing anyone to see me like this felt raw. Like I had opened my front door and allowed anyone to come in. I’ve been someone who went through things alone, and when I needed someone, it was always Tatiana.

I felt exposed, transparent, as if he could see right through me. I wasn’t the Yaya who he flirted with and shared playful banter. He saw me as a mess, a wreck that needed to be fixed. I wasn’t as controlled as I appeared.

“You good?” he asked, his voice rough like he hadn’t used it in a while.

He cleared his throat and looked over for my answer.

Wiping my face, embarrassed to even be in this situation, I nodded my head. “Yeah.”

He removed himself from my side of the bed and walked toward the other side. The bed dipped when he sat down. Putting his back against the headboard, he spread his long legs out.

“You don’t gotta be good for me, Yummy.”
