H: No, you dick. I got you who is in the car.

C: You sent me a stripper in a shitty car? Can’t be a very good stripper. You should ask for your money back.

I smirked as angry little emoji faces danced across my screen.

H: No, asshole. Sometimes, I wonder if you’ve been hit in the head too many times.

C: That’s not nice to joke about. Concussions are serious.

I smiled, knowing I was driving her insane, and if we were in person, she would’ve hit me by now.

H: OMG!!!! For fucksake! I sent you Skye.

The smile fell from my face as I read the message again.

C: You what?

My heart beat faster as I glanced at the car that still hadn’t moved, and I had a feeling that Skye was just as blindsided as I was.

H: Don’t bother with the, you what? And, how could you? Blah, blah, blah. You know, and I know that you haven’t gotten over Skye.

That was the truth, but still. I wasn’t prepared to see my ex, even if I still loved her.

C: Not fucking cool.

H: The pair of you are pathetic, and you both sound like broken records.

Well, that confirmed that Skye was probably having an identical conversation right now. Great, just great.

C: I don’t think she wants to see me, and besides, I have a bunch of the guys here with me. What the hell am I supposed to do with her?

H: First! Don’t be a baby. I know you want to get back together with her, but you are too much of a pussy to call her.

Ouch, that hurt.

H: Second! Who cares if the other guys are there? Hell, give her a good gangbang or something. God knows she needs it.

I glanced at the couch, and the jealousy at just the thought of any one of those fuckers touching her had my fist clenching. That wasn’t fucking happening.

H: Third! Don’t fuck it up this time. Merry Motherfucking Christmas.

C: I think I hate you.

H: You’re not the first to tell me that tonight.

Stuffing the phone back into my pocket, I leaned against the door and crossed my arms, waiting to see what Skye would do. I didn’t like the idea of her leaving, and not just because the roads would be treacherous by now. Hales was right. We didn’t exactly end things on the best terms, but I hadn’t dated anyone I clicked with as I did Skye. With each flick of the windshield wipers, my anxiety grew.

“Dude, you’re letting in all the cold air,” J.T. complained.

“I guess it’s a good thing you don’t pay the heating bills,” I drawled, shutting him up.

I couldn’t take my eyes off the old car better suited for the scrapyard than being driven. Why was she in such a shit box anyway? Her family had enough money to get her something safe.

Another minute ticked by before the car slowly moved and parked. As the door opened and Skye stepped out, I bit back the instant surge of desire that shot through my body. Fuck, she was still just as beautiful. Her blonde hair was blowing around despite the toque on her head. She raised her hand in greeting, but the gesture didn’t reach the rest of her face. Grabbing her small suitcase, she walked towards me, and I didn’t know who looked more like they were walking the plank, her or me.

As she stopped in front of me, I wanted to wrap her in my arms, and at the same time, I wanted to slam the door in her face. I may have broken up with her, but she cheated. My anger mingled with lust, and I glared at her as she stepped up to the door.

“Well, you look about as happy to see me as I am you,” she said, one dainty eyebrow arching.
