Cain smoothed back my hair and searched my face. “You do know that he would’ve killed you, right?”

“Yeah, I know,” I said and loved that he hadn’t wiped off the paint.

“You could’ve let us kill one another, and you would’ve been free.”

“But would I really be free?” I said.

His face shifted to a dark desire so fast that I wasn’t prepared for the breath-stealing kiss. I was gasping when Cain broke away and laid his forehead against mine. My lips were swollen from the assault. Cain’s thumb touched his nose, and he showed the paint on it before wiping it across my cheek, and my heart swelled.

Stepping back, he wandered to the drawer I’d seen him in once before, but instead of fear, all I felt was excitement as he pulled out the ball gag. I’d secretly fantasized about it since he first put it on me.

“Do you know what I’m going to do to you?” I shook my head no. “Do you want to know?”

I nodded and licked my lips as he stepped forward. Reaching out, he hit a small button I’d never noticed by the cupboards, and I screamed as my arms and legs were suddenly pulled tight against the wall in a spread-eagle position. I stared in confusion at the chains that seemed to pull me by an invisible force.

“What’s going on?”

Cain stepped up close to me, leaned in, and inhaled deeply on the side of my neck. Goosebumps rose all over my body as I responded to the adrenaline surge that made me want to run away and fuck him hard at the same time.

“It’s magnetic,” he whispered and ran his tongue up the side of my neck. “Pull on an arm.” I did as he said, and sure enough, I could move my arm forward, but as soon as I relaxed, the strength of the magnet pulled my arm wide again. “Are you going to be a good girl and let me put this on without forcing you to open up?”

“Yes,” I whimpered as his teeth nipped the soft skin on my neck. “I’ll open up.”

Cain’s hand slipped into my hair, pulling my head to the side. The image of a vampire came to mind as he moaned and then laid his teeth along my vein like he intended to bite me.“Mmm, Sunshine, I bet you taste good. Now lean your head forward and open up.”

Once more, I did as he asked. As he fit the ball into my mouth, my body shuddered as my pussy clenched with anticipation. My nostrils flared as he stepped back and looked at me.

“I’ve wanted to do this to you since I first saw you,” he said and undid the belt on his jeans.

He’d barely touched me, and my body was singing for whatever he had planned. As he popped the top button on his pants and peeled the black T-shirt off, it was good that the chains kept me upright, or I would’ve fallen down at his feet.

Making his way to another drawer, he pulled out his leather case that I knew held all his knives and then laid it out on the table.

“I warned you, Sunshine, that I wouldn’t always be kind to your body, and you agreed.” His eyes flicked up to mine as he pulled a long sharp blade from the case. Terror mingled with desire, and it was going to my head. All I could do was nod, so that was what I did. “Do you still agree?”

Cain held up the knife like he was testing me, and I nodded again, a smile spreading across his face.

“Oh, Sunshine, you’re such a good girl.”

His fist wrapped around the front of my shirt, and with a quick slice, the fabric fell open and exposed my breasts to the air. My nipples were already tingling as they hardened and ached to be touched.

He could’ve easily removed them with the Velcro on the sides, but this was a trust test. I knew it without him having to say the words. He wanted full control over my body, and the consent to do what he wanted was maybe more important than the act of fucking me. With a few more perfectly placed cuts, the material was pulled free. I sucked in a sharp breath and shivered as my back was pulled up against the cold wall.

He worked quickly, and my eyes followed his every action as he sat the blade down and ran his finger across his other tools. I was no longer the wary animal in his grip. I was an eager participant in whatever he decided to do.

There was a distinct thump in my ears as my heart pounded hard. I didn’t know what he was going to do, and that was part of the thrill. Cain turned around and had the same tool in his hand that he’d used to carve Barbara up.

My eyes went wide, but I didn’t struggle as he watched me. I stared into his eyes, those of a hardened killer, and accepted that this might be it. A peace washed over me. It would seem to anyone else a strange time to be the most relaxed and accepting of oneself, but that was the mystical power that Cain had over me. I could fight it, or I could expect it.

“You look concerned but not quite scared,” he said as he stepped forward. “Are you scared of what I plan on doing?” I shook my head no. “Are you sure?” As soon as I nodded, he smiled. “I may not know if I can fall in love, but I can tell you that my life, whatever that looks like, is not complete without you in it.”

He was always hard to read, but his eyes were kind in this quiet moment between us. I felt like I was getting to peer under the surface of the man who could be cruel to others but could be so much more. My heart fluttered as my stomach did backflips. Tears pricked my eyes, and the last thread that tied me to my past life dissolved into nothingness.

He held up the sharp tool with what looked like a scalpel with a sewing foot on the bottom for me to see. Cain adjusted the tool and pulled the blade up so that only a tiny tip was seen below the foot.

“I’m going to cut you, but it won’t scar. Do you trust me?”

Our eyes locked as I mumbled, “yes,” through the ball gag. The look he gave me was penetrating right down to my soul. Nothing else in the world existed but this man.
