“Have you told her about us yet?” If they’re really best friends, Josie should have cleared that up even before the market.
“I did.” Her voice stays quiet. “She’s a little skeptical, but I think I’ve done enough convincing for now. You and I are still learning about each other, and I tend to keep quiet about personal things. So, she’ll come around.”
“I don’t doubt my ability to convince her if we all hang out.” I just hope Josie remembers it’s all for show. “What do you and Stella do on your weekends together?”
“Don’t worry about it.” She shrugs, checking her watch. Yep, that solidifies her keeping quiet about things. “I have a tour coming up, so I need to be on my way.” Lifting onto her tiptoes, her lips place a gentle kiss on my cheek, catching me off guard. She winks toward the front desk and strides out of the lobby, leaving me speechless as I head up to the hotel’s work floor.
My workload piles up as a few urgent emails come through, but not enough to distract me from my phone notifications. I haven’t been this popular in a year.
Josie:

Dinner with the mayor wouldn’t spike anxiety if the entire focus wasn’t on Josie and me.

Me:
For someone who reads as much as you do, I’d think your grammar would improve.
Josie:

Has she disabled autocorrect? Her texts get worse by the day.
Me:
It’s alarming how painful your texts are to read. Get a refund from your university, Jojo.
