He was so hard, and his body was screaming for hers. If he didn’t have her, Josh believed he’d die.

Somehow, he managed to grab the ring, one he’d bought downstairs for her, and get them to the bedroom. What he wanted was to make love with her in their bed.

When he got them there, he placed her on her feet.

Breaking the kiss, he stared into her eyes, making another promise to her because she deserved it.

And always would.

“I will always protect you, Gennie. I won’t let anyone hurt you or take you away from me. I promise.”

His words mattered so much.

Because she needed them.

The world was becoming confusing, and she wanted a way to stay grounded.

That was him.

“I need you, Joshua,” she admitted. “I need someone to help me fight whatever is coming.”

Oh, well, sign him up.

Why the hell not?

It was worth the reward.

HER.

“Then, let’s do this together, Gennie. Let’s make this the best ride of our lives and make those memories. I want to make them with you. Only you.”

She was staring into his eyes, and she could see he meant every single word.

Thank.

Freaking.

God.

As she touched his face, he turned his head to leave a kiss on the inside of her palm, showing her that he wanted the bumpy and the tender.

The wild, and the calm.

He wanted everything.

From here on out.

While she might feel alone out in the world, the truth would be that she would take his heart with her no matter where she went.

That was his vow.

His promise.

There was nothing he wanted more than the absolute honor and pleasure of calling her his wife.

She said one word, and he understood.

“YES.”
