He was honest.

“I love her,” he said. “I mean, I loved her,” he said, fixing that now that Wynter was past tense.

Hart nodded.

“Not a lie.”

The doctor continued.

“I was going to suggest she leave him, and I was going to offer her a way to start a new life.”

“With you?” Bishop asked.

He nodded.

Honor was curious.

“And to your best knowledge, do you think she was going to take you up on that offer?”

He didn’t hesitate.

“I knew she was preparing for it. After sex two weeks ago, she said she would get her situation in order and see if she could get out of her marriage. A part of her was worried about her husband’s mental status if she left. She didn’t hate him. If anything, she hated the man he was cheating with. She blamed him for preying on her husband.”

Oh, Jesus Christ.

They both looked over at the other detective. That man was married to Bishop, and Lucian wasn’t a ‘prey on people’ kind of a guy.

As if she was about to lose it, Bishop didn’t want to hear anymore.

“I need some air,” she said, getting up and leaving the two of them with the doctor.

When she was gone, Honor was to the point.

“Were you having sex with anyone else who was your patient?” she asked.

He shook his head.

“No. I told you that I was fully vested in a relationship with Wynter. You asked my end goal, and it was to be with her. I would have married her in a heartbeat. We were soulmates,” he said, tears in his eyes.

Hart hated this more than anything. This was one of those moments where he wished he didn’t have this gift because the man wasn’t lying.

Honor glanced over at him.

“He’s telling us the truth as he believes it.”

The doctor was to the point.

“She said she’d like that. We were just trying to figure out how to make that happen. On Mondays, we talked about her mental health, and on Fridays, we talked about our relationship and love. That’s the truth.”

Hart nodded again.

Well, this was three days past shitty. That was for damn sure. Wynter had planned on leaving Ridge, but she was simply biding her time. That explained why she didn’t want more kids with him.

She likely wanted them with this man.

This was proof you could be around someone a lot and never know the truth about their lives. Neither Honor nor Hart would have assumed she was carrying on an affair with someone in Salem.

This just proved that all dirty deeds came out in the wash.
