Well, not everyone.

Bishop, Lucian, Nate, and Avalon didn’t look the least bit shocked.

Because, as I said, your gifts have opened all the way. Like how Tori was born being a psychic, and it came alive due to loss, and the same with Julian, yours was always there. You are a full-blown psychic. You can manipulate the static, like Lucian and I can.

Speaking of the one-eyed devil…

She’s not lying. Oracle is being honest. We can talk this way. I can do this with Ridge and Oracle. Now, I can do it with you. Our mental pathways are in a different plane of existence, and we straddle both of them.

As soon as she heard him, her head snapped and turned, staring at Lucian who was also now in her head as if it was a perfectly normal thing to do.

“How?” she asked.

Lucian didn’t know.

That was out of his realm.

All he knew was he, too, could do this, and it was something he’d come to love.

He had a purpose.

And you have a purpose too. Genesis, something is coming, and we’re in danger.

Avalon agreed.

We three are the key to keeping it at bay. The Littlemoons can’t fight this. They find murderers, and while this thing is a killer, it’s far more. It’s evil that traverses both planes. That makes it ours to police.

From where she was sitting, Tori was watching the three of them, and the silence was very telling. They were having a full-blown conversation in someone’s head.

And that was unnerving, among other things.

“Uh, it’s rude to have a conversation in your head when we can’t hear it. God. I never thought I’d say shit like that,” Tori admitted.

Julian laughed sardonically, as he was one step away from losing his shit.

“Oh, I did. This is the epicenter of crazy. Being psychic was the beginning to the end of my sanity.”

Avalon could sympathize with that.

“Imagine how I feel. What we know is this thing needs souls and energy to survive. Thus, the psychic vampire. He’s not going to stop until he wins. He will keep moving psychic-to-psychic until he feeds on all of the ones in Salem—you guys included. Beckett burning out was a blessing for him. He’s now safe from this lunatic.”

Jesus.

H.

Christ.

The last thing he wanted to hear was that his whole family was marked for this. Julian was now twitchier than a John picking up a hooker two blocks from the police station.

“What is he winning?” Tori asked. “That’s what has me confused.”

Julian stared at his wife.

Was she serious?

“That’s the ONLY thing that has you confused? I have a laundry list of things that have me three days beyond confused and into befuddled.”

There was laughter in the room, and it cascaded over all of their flesh, drawing goosebumps to their skin. It came from Avalon, but she hadn’t said a word.
