She was fine. She’d distracted Rabbit. Vander pressed his forehead to the metal. He didn’t want to leave her again.

“Thank you,” the beaten man’s wife said to Brynn.

“Of course.” Brynn helped get the man into a sitting position. “I’d crouch down, but with this belly, I probably wouldn’t make it back up.”

That got a watery laugh from the woman. “I remember being close to my due date and feeling as big as a house.”

“That’s the feeling.” Brynn smoothed a hand over her stomach, a smile catching her lips.

His. His woman. His baby.

I’m coming, Brynn. Just hold on.

He forced himself to slide backward. Forced himself to move away from his wife.

She needed him to be on point, to stay sharp, and to get her and these other people out safely.

He slid back through the vents and back to the empty office. He climbed out onto the desk and set the grate back in place.

The thieves were staying in the main room, clearly waiting for their hacker to get them into the system and steal the money.

There were ten of them. The more he thinned out before Saxon and the team got here, the better. He needed to lure one or two of them out, then take them down.

With measured strides, he headed back into the hall. There was a small vestibule near the elevators, with a sleek table topped by a lush, green, potted plant.

He pulled the cable he’d purloined earlier out of his pocket and coiled it between his hands.

Then, he slid the pot to the edge of the table and tipped it over.

It crashed to the wooden floor with a loud smash, and shattered. Ceramic shards and dirt went everywhere.

That ought to do it.

Vander slid into the shadows and waited.

Crash.

Everyone in the room jolted. Brynn saw Rabbit, Boar, and Fox all swivel. Wolf strode out of the office where Carolyn and Ben, along with Wolf’s hacker, were huddled in front of a computer.

“What the hell was that?” Wolf barked.

“Something out there.” Rabbit pointed deeper into the offices.

“Go and check it out,” Wolf ordered.

Brynn knew it wasn’t nothing.

No, it was one focused, deadly man.

“I’ll go.” Boar hefted up his rifle and sauntered out.

Brynn needed to keep the others busy, so they didn’t notice when Boar didn’t return. Cupping her belly, she staggered a little. “Oh, I…I need to sit down.”

“Oh, no.” Kristine appeared, pushing an office chair toward her. “Here, Brynn. Sit down.”

Brynn gave the woman a smile. Then she sat and surreptitiously rolled the chair a little closer to the office.

“Are you in?” Wolf demanded.
