I’m gonna do everything I can to get her everything she deserves for the rest of my life.

As long as she’ll let me.

Chapter 18

Amanda

After being wrapped up in Less' arms since we entered his condo, reaffirming our love for one another in words and through our bodies, I have to admit—I'm feeling more than good.

I'm feeling whole.

Complete.

Like a void inside of me has finally been filled.

And for the first time in ages, I’m happy. And I mean a bone deep happiness I’ve been living without for so long, I hardly recognized it.

We've finally moved to the bed, and my head is resting on his chest. One of his arms is around my waist while his other hand lazily plays with my hair.

God, I love that.

Always have.

There's something about the feel of his long fingers stroking through my hair, massaging my scalp, untangling strands with such care.

It's intimate.

Tender.

And somehow it relaxes me more than anything else.

Early sunlight filters through the windows of his bedroom.

The city beyond is waking up.

But in here?

Everything feels peaceful.

Safe.

For the first time in years, I don't feel like there's something missing inside me.

Because he's here.

Because we're here.

Because somehow we found our way back to each other.

But it's time.

Time for the question that's haunted me for three years.

“Less?”

“Yeah, Rusty?”

His fingers don't stop moving through my hair.
