“Come on. We need to debrief,” Noel says, and though I hate leaving her side, I have to.
“Brielle?” I call out.
“Yeah?”
She looks up, slaps the laptop down. Almost like she got caught doing something bad.
I cant my head, and she blushes. Then I recall her earlier comments about me and I shake it off.
“You keep an eye on her, yeah?”
“Of course,” she says and nods quickly.
Strange girl, but maybe she’s just embarrassed.
Noel gives a wave, and I follow him and the boys down the hall.
Within minutes, we're set up in one of the production offices. We set up shop right here.
Surveillance footage.
Building schematics.
Maintenance logs.
Everything.
Oliver Pax and Chance Madoc sit across from us.
Chance looks horrified.
Pax looks furious.
Which, admittedly, isn't much different from his normal expression.
Still, I swear to fuck, the man is growling.
Finally, he stands and speaks, “This was no accident.”
Noel nods.
“We agree.”
Chance rubs both hands over his face.
“My God.”
“Do you have any enemies?” Jack asks.
Chance blinks.
“What?”
“Anybody angry enough to sabotage the production?”
“Plenty,” Oliver Pax mutters.
Everybody looks at him.
