“Why are we watching it again?”

“Because last week I was called to a possible emergency appendectomy, but it turned out the man had a bowling trophy stuck up his ass. The sharp points perforated his bowels.”

Jade grimaced. “Ouch.”

“I’m not knocking anyone’s sexual preferences, but at least be honest about what the cause of the life-threatening holes in your intestines could likely be from. Needless to say, I missed the game.”

“I’m so thankful I’m not a doctor,” Jade muttered, moving toward the bar. Wrong Way was behind the counter and greeted him with a head nod. “Bottle.”

“Beer?”

“You know I don’t drink the hard stuff.”

A moment later, one was placed down with a click.

“Hey, Jade.” Sinner, the club’s VP, sat down next to him.

“Hey.”

“We’re having church on some intel the Bone Breakers have given us.”

“Yeah?” Jade asked and took a drink. “About a run?”

“Not exactly. Seems like a new product has infiltrated our grid.”

“Seriously?” Jade asked. His eyebrows raised in surprise. “When’s the meeting?”

“Tuesday.”

“My calendar is free.”

Sinn stood. “Breakfast Sunday at the diner.”

“Do I gotta?”

His VP gripped his shoulder. “You gotta.”

Chapter Three

Shiloh had a helluva time trying not to think of anything. Especially the asshole who had embodied her past, and the biker who sparked something deep inside. If she’d been a fanciful person, she might’ve believed in destiny. What was meant to be shall be, and all of that.

She didn’t believe in fairy tales, or happy-ever-afters.

When she finally managed to fall asleep early in the morning hours. It took a lot of effort to pull herself out of bed on Saturday. A mixture of the draining bus ride, going to the bar, and the emotional rollercoaster afterward had pushed her past exhaustion. She frequently suffered from insomnia, so being tired was nothing new. She was closer to being a zombie than a human being, and the damn bathroom mirror cemented that. Thankfully, Vette understood and didn’t push too hard.

“I’m gonna start exploring tomorrow, look for work,” Shiloh assured her.

“Hey, it’s all good. Rest. Take your time. If that takes a month or a few months, it’s okay. I’m not kicking you out.”

“I definitely can’t mope around for months. I’m not built that way.”

“Do you know what you want to do?”

Shiloh sighed. “No. Back home, I worked at a gas station convenience store. Not sure if I want to do that here.”

“Like I said, take your time. Figure things out. Don’t rush into something you’re not exactly happy with. Okay?”

“Okay,” she replied.
