I grab a fistful of her hair and yank her head back.
With my other hand, I catch her wrist and wrench her arm behind her back.
“What are you going to do now?” I growl, shoving her face against the side window. “You wanted to play? Fine. Let’s fucking play. Let’s see how flexible those fingers really are.”
“Let go of me!" she snarls. “You're the one who started it! So payback is a bitch!”
My grip tightens in her hair.
“Payback?” I repeat. “I didn't destroy something you spent years building, troublemaker. I broke into your loft. I threatened you but I didn't fucking destroy anything.”
“You stole my sleep! My safety!” she fires back. “You destroyed my peace of mind! I hate you!”
She twists just enough to free her other hand and slaps me across the face.
My head doesn't even move.
Heat blooms across my cheek, the imprint of her small hand already burning into my skin.
I wrench her arm higher behind her back, she cries out.
“I hate you too.” I lean close enough for my lips to brush her ear. "I'm going to kill you slowly. I'll watch the light leave your eyes for disrespecting me. For hitting me. For destroying something that wasn't fucking yours."
But I make no moves to actually do it.
I don't understand why I don't fucking hit her, why I don't kill her.
Why the fuck I can't kill the person who destroyed my car? Why I'm just restraining her here instead of actually hurting her?
If Lira had done half of what Riven has, I'd have ripped her fake tits right out of her chest.
And yet, Riven is only pinned against the window.
She laughs, she is actually fucking laughing.
At me.
“Then do it,” she says, breathless. “Kill me.” She grins. “Or are you a fucking coward?”
That does it.
My boils flares up instantly.
A coward? Me?
Okay, fine.
“Okay.” I tilt my head. “Then go, Riven.”
I jerk my head toward her door. I release her, giving her one last hard shove.
She immediately turns and grabs the handle.
My smile deepens. It doesn't budge.
“Tsk, tsk, tsk.” I shake my head. “I said you could go. I didn't say how.”
“Open the door,” she orders, her voice flat with hatred.
