Ben nodded once.

"I know."

"You already knew?"

"I suspected."

He looked back at the photos.

"Now we know."

Storm stepped onto the deck just in time to catch the last sentence.

"Know what?"

Ward handed her the camera.

Storm studied the first photograph.

Then the second.

Then the third.

Her expression never changed.

Only her eyes.

"They're using binoculars."

Ben nodded.

"They've been observing us."

"For how long?"

"Probably since yesterday, or the day before."

Storm looked toward the horizon.

Then back at the camera.

"Ivy..."

I suddenly worried I'd done something wrong.

"I'm sorry."

Storm looked genuinely surprised.

"For what?"

"I didn't know if it mattered."

She smiled.

Then wrapped one arm around my shoulders.

"It matters."
