“I’m happy for Mom.”

“And Nathan.”
“He finally stopped hiding.”

“Why?”
“Because you’ve had enough men make decisions for you.”
“I don’t understand.”
“I don’t want you choosing me because I saved you. Or because I was there when everything fell apart.”
“I don’t.”
“I was engaged when we met.”
“You aren’t now.”
“Tonya deserved respect.”
“She did.”
“I needed to be certain that part of my life was over before I started something with you.”
