Another giggle escapes, and Tyson smiles at me in a way that makes my stomach flutter.

“You’re also just cute… Super intelligent, like a cat…” he says, caressing my cheek.

“Oh yeah? Not cute and intelligent enough for you to ask me to be your boyfriend, though,” I huff.

“What?” he says, furrowing his brows.

“You heard me.”

“Are you … not my boyfriend?”

“You never asked,” I deadpan.

“Hmmn, is that so?” Tyson hums. “Well, would you take me as your lover, Your Highness?”

“I’ll think about it.”

“See, this is why I just claim you instead of asking,” he laughs, grabbing me by the neck and kissing me through my fit of more giggles.

“Okay, well, great cause I already told my family about you and my mom invited you to dinner this weekend,” I mumble against his lips.

“Wait, what!? Rohan!” Tyson gasps, pulling away.

“It’s been a while since I’ve had a boyfriend. Besides, you’ll be fine. They’re gonna love you.”

“Yeah, but you could’ve told me.”

“I am telling you.” I chuckle, pressing my face into his chest. It’s warm there, and my eyelids are starting to feel heavy.

“Rohan…”

“Tyson.”

“You’re really something, you know that?”

I hum against his skin, “Please come…”

“Of course I will. Just … I’m nervous.”

“Good, I love seeing you sweat.”

“Shut up,” he chuckles, giving my ass a light smack.

“You’ll be fine though. I promise.”

Tyson hums in response as he cards his fingers through my hair slowly, lulling me to sleep; I feel the press of his lips against my forehead.

Chapter 39

Tyson

The only thing I can think about while my father’s CFO stands up there flicking through his presentation is how much I want this meeting to be over with. Today will be the last day my father gets to push me into playing his stupid games. I hadn’t told anyone of my plans until Rohan recently, not even Max. But I had been saving the money I’ve been winning from Seeker to pay off the rest of Max’s tuition for his last year in university, and I plan to give him the rest to live off of.

I’ll finally be free.

My dad’s eyes slide over to me as the meeting wraps up and everyone stands to shake hands and speak shortly about whatever the fuck they just went over. Not that I was listening at all. Because it won’t matter after today. I’m not even sure why I entertained it this long. Maybe I wanted to fuck with my dad like he’s been fucking with me.

Everyone waits, allowing my father and me to leave the meeting first. I follow him silently back to his office, the door clicking softly behind us. I don’t feel as nervous as I thought I might as I watch him take his usual seat. I walk over to his desk and throw the invoices from Max’s university down in front of him. His brow arches.
