Not really my thing right now.

KALIX:

Can’t wait to see you trip tonight.

REED:

She’s going to love me.

KALIX:

Right.

Laughing to myself, I pocket my phone and put a cigarette to my lips.

I feel like a fucking teenage girl right now.

I keep checking the time on my phone while I get ready. I run my fingers through my dark wet curls and spray cologne all over my clothes.

Usually, I don’t give a fuck about that sorta thing. I’ll do one spray and not even care about my hair because my helmet usually messes it up anyways.

Today is different though, it’s the day that Lexie will start to fall for me and first impressions matter, so I need to be on my best behavior.

CHAPTER 3

LEXIE

Istep into the elevator of Lainey’s apartment building and press the button for her floor.

Before the door closes, a tattooed hand comes into my line of sight, holding it open.

That familiar itch crawls up my spine as the man steps in, forcing the space to shrink around us. I feel the weight of his presence next to me, too close for me to ignore. His familiar smell hits me like a ton of bricks. It’s bergamot and a hint of cigarette smoke.
