Lydia took the shot, and they both looked at it.
“That’s a good one,” he said, studying the happy couple smiling on the screen.
“It is.” She snagged her lip with her teeth as she attached the picture to a text and started typing.
Gram-Gram, I want you to meet Ty. He’s a personal trainer and the love of my life. I know the introduction is sudden, which is a bit of a surprise. I should also mention that he’s moving in.
He chuckled as he read what she wrote. “Cute.”
She grinned with her shrug as she sent it off. “It’s what I wish I could’ve said when you two met the first time. I like knowing that I meant every word.”
He snagged her by the chin, kissing her. “I love you, Lyd.”
She pressed her hand to his cheek. “I love you, too.”
Her phone alerted her to a text.
They both looked at the screen, reading her gram-gram’s reply.
I like seeing those happy eyes and big smiles. It looks like he’s right where he belongs.
Lydia grinned as she typed back Yes!
Three dots appeared as Marietta typed again.
If Tyler is going to continue working as a personal trainer, I have several names to pass along. I’ve been singing his praises at luncheons and committee meetings. I know several wealthy old women who are looking to feel as strong as I do.
He blinked in surprise. “Wow.”
Lydia smiled as she bumped her arm against his. “I guess it’s not going to take you very long to build up that client base after all.”
“I guess not. Will you tell her thanks and that I’ll happily take any names that she wants to give me?”
“I will.” Lydia’s thumbs flew over her screen again.
Marietta texted again. Consider it done.
Lydia set down her phone and threw her arms around him. “I’m so excited for you, Ty.”
He hugged her back, feeling excited too. Less than twenty-four hours ago, he’d walked away from his career. Now, he was well on his way to creating a new one. “It seems like things are moving right along.”
She pressed her lips to his. “They are.”
He rested his forehead against hers, savoring the rush of gratitude for everything about this moment. “I love this, Lyd—the idea of us heading off to the jobs we both love, then coming home to each other when the day is over.”
She smiled as she nodded. “That sounds really good.”
He kissed her. “It sounds perfect.”
She kissed him again as she stroked her fingers along the back of his neck. “Should we put our dishes in the dishwasher and get going? Because I believe we have an apartment to pack.”
He tucked her hair behind her ear. “It shouldn’t take us long. I’m leaving the bed and dresser for Davey’s eventual new roommate, so it’s mostly just clothes.”
“We’ll clean out some drawers for you when we get back.”
He stopped her with his hand on her shoulder before she could stand. “Can we make my mom’s day before we go? I think she was almost as devastated as I was when I had to tell her that we weren’t together anymore on Friday night.”
Lydia’s eyes went soft. “Aw. Of course we can.”
