He pushed her hair off her face and kissed her forehead. “No shit.” He dropped more kisses to the top of her head. “Just know I was totally screaming inside.”

She shook with laughter and his cock still buried inside her enjoyed that little bonus. “Me too.” Sitting up, she slowly slid off him, pulling little gasps out of them both. “Consider that a goal, Mr. Center Forward.”

He raised his uncasted arm in a victory pump. “You’ve got one hell of a net there, baby.”

She gave him a sultry smile and crawled off him. “Time to hit the showers.”

“You go,” he said. “I’ll check on Nia. If she’s out cold, expect to share your shampoo with me.”

Morgan chuckled as she climbed off the bed and grabbed her Anchors shirt. “I’ll share more than my shampoo with you.”

“Conditioner too?” He sat on the edge of the bed. “Bonus.”

Shaking her head, she sashayed across the room, peeked out into the hallway toward Nia’s room, then darted into the bathroom.

Sawyer already missed her, but he bent over his clothes on the floor by the bed and pulled on his underwear and sweatpants. He padded into Nia’s bedroom, adjusting the blankets around her and picking up the purple giraffe that had fallen to the floor. He tucked it in beside Nia and leaned down to press a kiss to his daughter’s forehead.

My daughter.

He needed this kind of time with her. Fortunately, whenever he did see Nia, she never acted as if she was mad at him for not being around more. She always seemed thrilled to see him. Carina had said once she told Nia that he wasn’t able to be around because his job had him traveling a lot. Not a total lie, but he had plenty of time when he wasn’t playing hockey that he could be with Nia. Sawyer never badmouthed Carina in front of his daughter, but sometimes he was tempted. He desperately wanted Nia to know that given the choice of being with her or not with her, he’d always choose to be with her.

After a few seconds of watching Nia sleep, he crept out of the bedroom and stopped in the kitchen for a plastic bag to cover his cast. After waterproofing his arm, he went into the bathroom where steam wafted from the shower. He closed the door, leaving it open a crack, then pushed his sweats and boxers down his legs. Stepping out of them, he slid the curtain aside, loving the sight of Morgan’s water-slicked body.

She peeked over her shoulder at him, a smile turning up her lips as he entered. “Nia’s sleeping?”

“Like a rock.” He stepped up behind her and wrapped his uninjured arm around her waist, palming her flat stomach. He rubbed his dick along her backside. “You know what else is like a rock?”

She hummed. “I have an idea.” Morgan turned in his hold and rested her hands on his shoulders. Her blue eyes were more pronounced with her dark hair slicked back away from her face. She looked like a sexy water nymph, intent on luring him into her clutches.

No lure needed. He’d walk right into her arms without any hesitation.

They touched each other in ways that made that shower officially The Best Shower Sawyer had ever taken in his life. Upon getting out, drying each other off, and donning their pajamas again, matching Anchors shirts included, Sawyer led them to the living room and guided Morgan to sit on the couch. He’d built a fire earlier, but it had died down considerably so he stoked it once again with fresh logs then joined her.

Picking up the TV remote, he wiggled it. “Want to watch something that doesn’t involve cartoons singing songs about being a good friend?”

“Yes, please,” Morgan said. “Although for the record, I did enjoy the last song of the movie.”

“The one about following your heart?”

“Yeah. Not only did Nia sing along like the cutest kid on the planet, but . . . I don’t know . . .” Morgan shrugged. “Something about it spoke to me.”

He turned her so her legs rested across his lap. “Have you thought more about what line of work you’d like to get into?”

“Not really.” She grinned at him. “I’ve been distracted by this hot hockey player and his adorable daughter.” She ran a finger along his whiskered jaw.

He leaned forward and dropped a peck on her lips. “Sorry about that.” He kissed her again. “But not really.” They made out for a few heated moments before Morgan put a hand to his chest and created a few inches of space between them.

“It’s hard to be around you and not do that.”

“No one is stopping you, baby.” He moved to kiss her again, but she stiffened her arm so he couldn’t reach.

“If I don’t stop you, we’re going to wind up naked again.”

“I’m not opposed to that either. We’re so good together when we’re naked.” In a quick move, he swept her arm out of the way, flopped her to her back on the couch, and got to all fours over her.

“What just happened?” The way she gazed up at him with a slight smile on her wonderful lips told him she didn’t actually mind being beneath him right now.

“On the ice, I spend a lot of time figuring out how to get around players on the other team.” He fanned some of her hair out on the cushion beneath her. “I used some of my professional maneuvers on you.”
