“So you girls check on each other?” He dressed, grabbed the menu from the fridge door, then sat on one of the kitchen stools at a beautiful island with a thick, rough-edged wooden top.

“Always.” She tapped away on her phone after putting on her clothes. “Austin checks on us too.” She angled the phone so Sawyer could see the screen.

Austin: 2 and 3 said you’re with that hockey guy again. You okay?

Sawyer tried not to bristle at being called that hockey guy. “Your sisters are 2 and 3?”

“Yeah. I’m 1 because I was born first.” She tapped another reply then set her phone down. “Do you have any siblings?”

“I have an adopted sister, Shanae, who is fifteen. She lives with my mother in Colorado,” he said. “No biological siblings though.”

“Do you get along with Shanae?”

“I do. I haven’t been back home to Colorado in a while though,” he said. “Once the hockey season is over, I usually spend a month there to catch up with them.”

“So you’re a good son and brother?”

“I’d like to think so.”

Morgan nodded, and Sawyer felt as if he’d passed a test. At least he hoped he’d passed. When Morgan took the menu from him and asked him what looked good, he figured she hadn’t given him a failing grade if she wanted to hang out with him still.

“Everything looks good on that menu,” he said. “I think the word maple appears in every item.”

“Yum.” Morgan patted her belly. “Let’s go to the dining area to eat breakfast.” She put the menu down and grabbed her purse and coat by the door. “We should get out of the room now because I’m trapping you in here later.”

“Trapping me?” Sawyer joined her at the door and slid on his coat. He pressed her up against the door and teased her lips with his. “You can’t trap a guy who doesn’t want to get away.”

A slow grin turned up the corners of her mouth. “So you’re saying it won’t be necessary to tie you up?”

Sweet fuck.

“Do you want to tie me up?”

“What if I do?” She clasped both his hands, turned them so his back was to the door, and pinned his wrists to the rough wood. “Is that allowed?”

“Allowed and encouraged,” he said.

“Excellent.” Morgan released him and nudged him aside so she could open the cottage door. “Now we need a sneaky way to ask Isabel for rope. Put a brain on that while we have breakfast.”

Sawyer wasn’t going to be able to put a brain on anything else.
