Morgan slid her sweater off her shoulders, letting it pool on the floor. She stepped back to the couch and picked up the lingerie. “Let me change into my costume.” She pointed to the fireplace. “Want to build a fire?”

Sawyer let his gaze comb over her. “Oh, it’s already started, baby.”

She wagged a finger at him then took off down the hallway to the bathroom.

It took all of Sawyer’s willpower to turn around and face the fireplace. He had enough wood in his jeans to fuel an inferno.

Shaking his head, he crouched—with some discomfort—and positioned kindling in the fireplace. He lit it, slowly adding logs until he had a good blaze going. Straightening, he lifted one of the framed photos from the mantle. Nia’s cheeks were rosy from being outside in the cold, but her smile did everything to warm Sawyer’s heart. He’d have to tone down his presence in the media once he returned to the ice—one of Carina’s conditions for sharing custody. Sawyer didn’t care though. Being popular in sports news and online had meant success to him, but nothing meant more than being Nia’s father. One who got to see her. One who got to make all these memories with her.

One who loved her so fucking much.

He put that picture down and picked up the one next to it which was a selfie Morgan had taken of the three of them with an icy Brenton Lake behind them. They had huge smiles on all their faces.

“How the fuck did I get so lucky?”

“I don’t know,” Morgan said behind him, “but you’re about to get luckier.”

Sawyer set the picture down and glanced at the fire which was good and roaring now. When he turned around to find Morgan in that lingerie looking as witchy—and maybe a little devilish—as she had in that photo in the bedroom, a low growl vibrated out of him.

“Good thing only your sisters saw you when you took those pictures,” he said. “Because anyone else would have stolen you from me.”

Morgan shook her head. “Impossible. You’ve ruined me for other men, Mr. Center Forward.” She pointed to the spot right in front of her. “Time for a faceoff.”

Sawyer peeled off his clothes as he crossed the living room. By the time he reached her, he was totally naked aside from his cast.

Morgan’s gaze slid down the length of him, stopping at his erection. “And I was concerned I wouldn’t have a pole to dance around.”

“No worries there, baby. I got you.”

She reached up and looped her arms around his neck. The glide of her silk-covered body against him pulled a moan out of Sawyer.

“Happy Valentine’s Day,” she whispered right before she slid her hand along his arm to his hip to his dick. Her fingers wrapped around his arousal as she caught his mouth in a fiery kiss that made his legs almost buckle.

“Happy Valentine’s Day,” he said as she dropped quick pecks on his lips then backed up a few steps so he had to follow her if he wanted more.

And he wanted more. So much more.

He’d get it too because what Morgan didn’t know was tickets to that Colorado game were only the first steps in Sawyer’s Next Steps Plans.
