“Going home? What are you, thirteen?” he laughed.

“We haven’t planned anything for tonight,” I chuckled.

“Why don’t you both come over to our beach house tonight? Ash and I are having everyone over.”

“I’m honestly dressed in this one-piece bathing suit and beach pants. I’d have to go home to Newport first.”

“So, have Point Break send his chopper for you and bring you up to the beach house after you freshen up,” Jake smiled. “A romantic chopper ride and an evening with all of us clowns will jump-start you two in the right direction.”

“That sounds like a lot of fun,” I glanced back out at the water. “Who knows? If he keeps surfing like that, he might get lucky tonight.”

“Ah,” Jake smiled at me. “Young love and destiny working for the greater good.”

I couldn’t remember the last time I’d lived so spontaneously. It felt like a breath of fresh air, and it wasn’t just because Titus was sexy as hell. I was actually starting to like the man—the softer side of him, hidden beneath the hard exterior I’d only known until now.

CHAPTER THIRTY-THREE

The sunset cast gold across the Newport coastline as Catalina stepped out onto the rooftop helipad above Horizon, the ocean wind sweeping through her dark hair.

I watched her pause near the edge of the rooftop, quietly taking in the helicopter waiting beside us. Most women reacted to my wealth in one of two ways—they either pretended not to care or cared far too much.

Catalina did neither. She simply observed. Lately, I’d begun to realize she wasn’t trying to understand my luxurious lifestyle. She was trying to understand the man behind it.

It was becoming a serious fucking problem for me.

“You’re seriously flying me to Malibu in this thing?” she asked, looking toward the helicopter.

I glanced toward the aircraft. “Catalina, it’s Friday evening in Southern California. Driving to Malibu would qualify as psychological warfare.”

Her laugh escaped softly, a sound that was becoming dangerous for me.

“You do realize normal people just sit in traffic?” she asked as we walked toward the helicopter.

“When it comes to better options for dealing with Southern California’s traffic, I’m not a normal person.”

“That is unfortunately becoming clear again.”

A grin pulled at my mouth.

Good Lord, I smiled too much around this woman. At first, I thought it was because of the casual things we were doing together, which brought out my youthful side, but that theory was proven wrong just this evening when she stepped into my world.

“Tell me honestly,” she continued. “How long did it take before absurd billionaire behavior started to feel normal to you?” she asked, waving her hand toward the helicopter.

I opened the helicopter door for her. “Are we referring to the helicopter or the yacht currently on its way to the West Coast?”

She froze halfway into the cabin. “You’re bringing your yacht from Monaco to the West Coast?”

“Why the hell not?” I answered calmly.

“With summer practically next week, all of your elite parties will be out there.”

“It’s safe to say my yacht won’t be part of them this summer.” I motioned for her to get inside. “After you.”

“That’s—.”

“Get in the helicopter, preciosa,” I grinned.

“I’m just surprised you’d move it when it’s yacht season overseas for you and your fellow elites.”
