But I don’t take it back.

Because I’m right.

We all know how this works. Spencer might be the one who makes the final call, the one who keeps everything organized and controlled, but we don’t move unless we all agree. And I can see already that he doesn’t disagree. He couldn’t possibly. His instincts are even sharper than mine, meaning he knew before I verbalized the suggestion that this is the right call.

He’s just annoyed I said the words first.

Mia’s gaze flicks between us, uncertain but hopeful, and maybe a touch overwhelmed.

Spencer sighs, straightening. “We’ll need a realtor,” he says finally, like he’s conceding a point he wishes he didn’t have to.

I don’t even try to deny my lips their right to pull into a cocky smirk.

Fuck, I love it when I’m right.

Mia perks up instantly, like someone flipped a switch. “Oh, I actually know someone,” she says quickly. “My boss used him to search for the office space we moved into last year when we needed to expand. He was amazing, and I’m pretty sure he does residential properties, too.”

Zak makes a face. “He?”

I scoff. “Yeah, that’s a hard pass.”

Spencer crosses his arms but doesn’t speak.

Mia rolls her eyes, a little spark of attitude breaking through her composure. “He’s an omega,” she says. “And he’s very much spoken for, considering the bond marks he proudly shows off. There’s no threat; he’s just a really great realtor… And he’s very patient.”

I’m not sure why she looks at me when she adds that last part, but her reassurance takes the fight out of us immediately. Zak and Spencer both look a little sheepish over their possessiveness.

I shrug. “Fine then.”

Spencer exhales, already shifting into planning mode. “I’ll have Trevor add you to our calendar,” he tells her. “Games, practices, conditioning, and any other commitments we have going on. That way, you’ll know when we’re free and can have the realtor plan accordingly.”

Mia nods quickly with a growing smile. “Okay.”

“Ask if we can set some showings up as soon as possible,” he adds. “The sooner we start, the better.”

“Got it.”

I force a pout, acting as if I’m a victim of the situation, too. “Yeah, you better hurry,” I agree, tilting my head toward her. “Save me from that awful house I’ve been forced to endure for far too long.”

Mia’s smile turns sympathetic, like we’re in this together.

Because, duh, we are.

Spencer’s glare hits me instantly, promising punishment. He’s just jelly-belly that he didn’t get to be the knight in shining armor. He really should learn to take some initiative. He is the alpha in charge, after all.

I grin, catching the way his eyebrow lifts in silent challenge.

Yeah. I’m definitely going to pay for that later.

Worth it.

Chapter Sixteen

Mia

Morning comes too soon after a late night staying up talking. For a second, I worry maybe I'm struggling to wake up from another delicious dream, and that yesterday might not have actually happened.

Then I inhale.
