Slowing my strokes, I rest my forehead against hers. “Maybe we should have just fucked in the shower and been a little late to work.”

She chuckles and drags in a deep breath. Her smile is gorgeous. “Maybe.”

When I stand, I offer her a hand to help her up. After we both right our clothes, I hand her a wipe from my desk. I put them in there after the first time we had sex in the office because I knew it wouldn’t be the last.

Sara will always tempt me. And I don’t know how I ever resisted her.

She fixes her makeup while I log in to the system and get to work for the day. When she closes her purse after putting her lipstick away, she clears her throat. I look up and she smiles at me expectantly.

“Where do you want me, sir?”

I shake my head, but help her set up a workstation of her own in my office.

Passing things back to Tom shouldn’t feel like a chore, but I still want to punch the guy every time I see his face. It’s probably a good thing Natasha is working in his office or I might give in one of these times and just deck him.

He doesn’t say much and we keep our discussions work based.

I’ve already sent the pictures Sara took of my uncle to Sebastian Cross to find out who the woman is. I know Sunday’s dinner isn’t optional and my uncle would cut off my mother somehow to punish me if I didn’t show up. But I want to be armed walking into that house again.

“We need to have a meeting in the conference room.” Wyatt stands in my open doorway. “Everyone.”

I grab a tablet to take notes. No idea what this is about.

Finn and Sara are already in the conference room when I arrive. I take the other seat next to Sara.

She leans her head against my shoulder for a second before remembering where we are and straightening. I’d fucking kiss her if she weren’t our intern. It’s complicated and messy but this part is only temporary. Her internship runs out at the end of summer, but I’ll have Sara for the rest of my life.

A small price to pay now to ensure our future together.

Tom and Natasha come in and take seats.

“Do you know what this is about?” Tom asks.

Finn shakes his head. “Where’s Wyatt?”

Sara glances at the door and smiles. “With my boyfriend.”

Drew and Wyatt walk toward the conference room. Their heads practically together. When Drew steps in, he looks at the empty seats. He takes one at the end and Wyatt sits at the other end after closing the door.

“The FBI has taken Peter into custody.” Wyatt links his hands on the conference table. “They’ve taken in quite a few of his known associates. We do know Alexander Petrov is not being charged yet. They haven’t found enough to bring him in.”

Tom takes Natasha’s hand. Her diamond ring sparkles in the light. It would be so easy to take Sara’s offer. To make her my wife. But not without talking it through with the others. I don’t know if she actually thought that offer through, but it might be one of the only ways to get my uncle to back off forever.

The problem is that the Morrises aren’t someone my uncle needs to collect. I’m his prized cow and can’t be sold to the lowest bidder. I’m sure he’s found someone at this point or he wouldn’t have requested my presence at dinner.

Usually he just emails or texts his requests for dates. But dinner means he wants me to meet someone and be on my best behavior.

“Alexander is already making moves to take over the organization.” Wyatt runs a hand through his hair. “He’s the heir apparent even though he’s not married to Natasha.”

“My father has secrets only Alexander knows.” Natasha leans forward and looks at everyone. “He won’t need me to take over the line. It just legitimizes his claim. Maybe we can talk to him—‍”

“No,” Tom says. “I’m not letting that man anywhere near you or our baby.”

“Tom.” Natasha touches Tom’s jaw and waits for his quick temper to dissipate.

He leans into her hand.
