“Bye, DaVinchi!” Quaid said. “My wife don’t know your ass like that.”

Jaeda laughed as he hung up the phone. I shook my head.

“Don’t make my boy fuck you up about his wife.”

“I don’t want no smoke. Anyway, you think that’s the way he’s doing it?”

“I can see it being an option. We’ll know more once Jaeda and Quaid do their thing.”

“You plan on telling Mia?”

“Hell no. I don’t need her to have any more of a reason to think she’s staying in Paris a second longer. Come Friday, she’s getting her ass on that jet and going the fuck home.”

I wasn’t playing with Mia anymore.

We had too much at stake right now for her to be caught up in this shit any longer. We already had a plan in place. I’d already put in a call to Mr. James to let him know we needed more backup so we could move this shit along quickly.

While I didn’t tell him Mia was pregnant, I let him know that this was now bigger than we initially thought it was. He didn’t hesitate to let me know he was sending fifteen additional team members who would get here within the next few days.

That was just enough time to get my wife and child home safely before I turned this fucking city out.

Icrept down the stairs of my house, trying to make as little noise as possible. I had a meeting to go to, and with the hounds on the loose, I didn’t have a chance in hell of getting out this house without getting caught. Last night while Titan went to get my ice cream, I received a message from JacQues asking to meet him because he wanted to discuss business.

I knew my husband nor my mother would never let me out of their sight, so I did the only thing I could think to do… sneak out. At least I was trying to. My stomach was growling like hell. This baby barely let me eat, even though I was hungry all the time. Even knowing that I was most likely going to throw it back up, I made a pit stop in the kitchen to warm up one of the breakfast bowls my mama always made.

Placing it in the microwave, I turned it on and went back to the fridge for a bottle of juice. When I closed the door, I damn near jumped out of my skin. Titan stood there fully dressed with his arms crossed.

“Going somewhere?” he asked.

“I… um… no.”

“So you just snuck outta bed for what?”

“Clearly, I’m getting food. I didn’t want to wake you up. Jesus.”

He chuckled as he stepped closer to me. “We lying to each other?”

“You see the fucking food in the microwave, Titan.”

“Because you damn sure better be feeding my baby. But um, explain to me why you think you’re going off to meet that nigga.”

“What?”

“Oh, you hard of hearing?” He started signing the words because, of course this nigga knew sign language. “Where the fuck do you think you’re going?” he asked as he signed. “That clear enough for you, wifey?”

“I wasn’t going anywhere.”

He pulled a phone from his pocket that looked identical to my burner. I found myself patting my pockets to make sure he hadn’t taken it. It was right where I’d left it in my back pocket.

“Yesterday, 10:23 p.m. That JacQues nigga told you to meet him to discuss business. You agreed at 10:25 p.m.”

My mouth fell open in surprise, even though this shouldn’t have been a surprising moment.

“Did you clone my phone?” I asked, crossing my arms.

“And did.”

“When!”
