Rangi’s eyes darkened slightly. “Yeah?”

Keanu nodded once. “I’m going to find out.”

The words hung in the space between them.

Heavy.

Inevitable.

And neither of them looked away.

Alexios leaned back slightly in his chair, watching Keanu close the distance, cataloging every detail with the same precision he brought to everything else in his life.

Posture—tight but controlled.

Breathing—steady, but just a fraction deeper than baseline.
