Simeon looked up at the young men playing football at hearing a wolf whistle in their direction.
“Können sie den ball übergeben?“ (Can you pass the ball?) an attractive brawny youth with a nut brown bare chest hollered, pointing to the football that had rolled beside their oak tree.
“Don’t look at me; I’ve got two left feet.“ Sim huffed, as Pieter and Emily directed their gazes. Pieter gave him a ‘go on‘ push, so Simeon rose and picked up the ball.
“No more treats for you then,“ He pouted as he picked up the box of cupcakes and sauntered to the group of young men who were now resting on the lawn, drinking soda and rubbing their sweated brows with t-shirts.
Emily and Pieter watched Simeon sit with the group and offer them cupcakes. They chatted for several minutes before Simeon rose and returned to the picnic blanket, camply singing “My cupcakes bring all the boys to the yard...“ as he sat beside Emily and offered her the final cake in the box.
Pieter laughed, and his brows rose waiting for Sim to say something. Simeon held up a hand and counted his fingers down 5,4,3,2,1. As if on cue, his phone beeped with a message. Emily barked a loud laugh as Sim read the message out loud.
“Your buns taste so good.“
“Which one is it?“ Pieter asked trying not to look directly at the group of young men.
“Anders, cropped brown hair, gray sweats.“
“Hell, what shall I reply?“ Simeon asked, as if he wasn’t a pro at picking up guys.
“So you like your buns covered in cream?“ Emily offered. Simeon gasped, and they giggled conspiratorially.
“Oh Emily, Dirty girl! I like the way your mind works.“ he sighed. Simeon typed furiously with just his thumbs and pressed send.
Simeon’s phone beeped—another message,
“Oh yes! A guy can never get enough cream! Do you have any more to share?“ They all giggled like kids.
“Maybe, if you’re free tomorrow night, you’ll find out!“ Simeon typed. The reply came seconds later.
“What do you have in mind?“
