“Are you saying you plan to spend time with me tomorrow?”

“Yes!?” The tone of my voice went up. I hadn’t mentioned my days off were after the two days West had taken me off the schedule, which means I had four, almost five, days free. He looked at me like he wasn’t sure how to proceed with the conversation, and I wasn’t about to guess what was coming next because this was all new territory for me, but it was also new for him. What if he was hoping I would go home? “I’m sorry I didn’t ask. I assumed. I shouldn’t have assumed. We’ve been having so much fun. I like you a lot. You’re so amazing, and I like the animals and getting up with you in the morning. We seem to be getting along so well. You probably want me to leave.”

“Angus.” He said with a slight bite.

I stopped talking. “Yes.” He opened the barn door and stepped into my space. His hand slipped around my waist, and his lips went to my neck, kissing the sensitive skin. “Relax.” He whispered in my ear. “I would love to spend more time with you. Feel free to stay with me any time you want because I like waking up with you, too.” I stretched my neck so he had better access. My body enjoyed his touch.

“Oh.” It appeared he felt some of the same things I did, which made me feel a little giddy. “Dinner tomorrow?”

“We would have to go after the evening feeding. As you know, I am not very social, but I will try to make a good impression on your mom.”

I smiled and kissed him. “She’ll love you because of how I feel about you. I know she will do the event without meeting you, but I want to introduce you to her because she is important to me and you are, too. We could stay at my place after we eat?”

“Sounds nice. Will you come back on Tuesday, or am I pushing my luck?”

Trying not to seem too eager, I nodded. “Sure. Yup.”

He laughed. “You aren’t fooling me.” I kissed him to shut him up, excited that he was going to do the fundraiser and meet my mom. I’ve never brought someone home to her before, so this was a very big deal. I knew she would understand its significance. And I didn’t think he needed to know those details.

ANGUS

I’m bringing someone home for dinner tomorrow night

MOM

Someone? Like a man?

ANGUS

Yes. I like him.

MOM

Really? If this is a joke, Angus Flynn MacGregor.

ANGUS

It’s not a joke. We will be there around 8:00 p.m.

Can you order dinner?

MOM

Order? I will be cooking a pot roast and making pie for us.

ANGUS

You don’t have to. I want you to meet the man I’m really into.

Plus, we have a favor to ask.

MOM

Okay. See you tomorrow. Will you spend the night?

ANGUS

Yeah. Have Sheila clean up my room, please.
