I point the gun at his chest. “Get out, Ash, or I swear I’ll shoot.”
In three strides, he reaches me and backs me up against the wall. The barrel of my gun separates us, pointing at his heart. He’s breathing heavily, his breath fanning my face while he looks down at me, barely able to keep his gaze on my eyes before it drops to my mouth.
The basket thuds on the floor when he drops it.
“Fuck it,” he says, then picks me up by the back of my thighs.
I move the gun under his chin.
We’re connected. Our bodies, skin on skin. His palms burn hot and will leave my skin raw. Ash tilts his head as if to kiss me.
I can’t let him. I can’t. “I’m going to pull the trigger,” I say.
“I’m going to kiss you,” he counters.
Chapter 24
Runa
The moment our lips meet, the fire in the pit ignites.
The heat of his lips scorches mine, but my desperation for him overrides reason. While he kisses me, his eyes are open, twin flames burning in them. Being this near to him feels out of this world. It’s almost as if the fire fills a void in my chest, and the burning of his body stokes the heat I feel even more now. I might explode into a raging inferno myself.
Ash deepens the kiss, probes inside my mouth with his tongue.
When I don’t respond, he says, “Let me kiss you.”
“This isn’t right.”
“Then kill me.”
“You’re insane,” I say, but Ash doesn’t listen. He slips his tongue into my mouth again, and when our tongues touch, we both groan. I grasp his shoulder, keeping the gun between us and aimed at his chest.
At first, Ash kisses me slowly, our tongues dancing while our bodies burn, making me want to rip off my clothes. The kiss turns heavy and all-consuming, and Ash grinds himself against me.
I break the kiss first and toss the gun aside so I can grip his shoulders as he moves our bodies. I stare at the ceiling, biting my lip while Ash kisses my neck and goes lower to bite my clavicle. Suddenly, he puts me down.
Dizzy, I lean against the wall. Ash’s bold vetiver mating scent floods the room and makes me think we’re strolling through the dense woods at midnight. I’m a defenseless creature, soon to be reduced to begging for his knot.
I lick my wet lips, bruised and sensitive from where his beard scratched.
“You’re wearing my T-shirt,” he states.
It doesn’t get any more humiliating than this. Oh, wait, I’m sure it will when I turn into a puddle of lust at his feet.
“You’re wearing my fucking T-shirt.”
“I heard you.”
“It’s worth repeating, little wolf. Worth repeating in hopes the wisdom of your pussy will spread to your stubborn head.”
“Ash Fireborn, your mouth has better things to do than speak.”
“Show me where you want my mouth.”
His mating scent consumes me. The alpha pheromones he’s releasing drown me until my brain forms no thoughts. I scratch my nose, shake my head, trying to clear the brain fog he’s putting me under, but it’s a losing fight.
Ash’s scent cues my brain to make my body respond. Heat ignites in my lower belly, liquid forms, and flushes down my channel. It hits the flimsy barrier of my panties and spills like a water balloon thrown from a balcony. Liquid heat soaks my panties, and the overflow slips down my thighs.
