"I'm talking to him," Armani interrupted.
"No. You the reason I'm probably in this situation now."
“I’ll tell him you said thank you.”
“Yeah, my sister forgets her manners sometimes.”
The bottle girl sat the bottle on the table before wishing us a good night and walking away. I watched her disappear into the crowd before finally looking across the club to figure out who had sent it.
My eyes landed on a VIP section on the opposite side. A few men sat around laughing and drinking. One of them was already looking dead at me. Even from across the room, I knew exactly which one had sent the bottle. I turned my head and went back to enjoying myself. The liquor kicked all the way in and now, I was turnt.
The rest of the night flew by. Armani danced with damn near everybody in the section except me. We laughed, danced, took pictures, and somehow ended up making friends with the girls at the next table over. At some point, we finally opened the bottle that had been sent over. Hell, one more glass wouldn’t hurt.
By the time the DJ announced last call, my feet were killing me.
"I'm ready to go," I said, grabbing my purse.
Armani pouted before looking down at her Apple watch. "It's only...okay, damn. It is late."
"I been telling you I got work Monday."
She rolled her eyes. "You bring up Monday like it's tomorrow."
"It is tomorrow."
"Oh, shit. My bad, I’m drunk," she giggled and picked up her purse.
I laughed and stood up.
"You coming?"
"In a second. Let me tell him bye."
"Him?"
"The bouncer."
I looked at her.
"Girl."
"What?"
"You better not have that man thinking y'all together."
"We ain't."
"Mh-mm."
"I'll meet you by the front."
I shook my head and started toward the exit, weaving through the crowd as people squeezed past me in every direction. I had almost made it to the end of the VIP walkway when somebody stepped directly into my path. I stopped and made direct eye contact with the man that sent the bottle. Here we go with the strings attached, I thought to myself.
Up close, he was even taller than I thought. A diamond watch caught the lights every time he moved, but that wasn't what caught my attention. It was him and the way he carried himself. Nothing about him screamed for attention, but yet somehow, he had all of it. He slid one hand into his pocket and gave me the slightest grin.
"So..."
I raised an eyebrow.
