“Did you make them suffer including the bitch?”

“They suffered and begged for their lives.”

“Does it make me a terrible person to say I’m happy they suffered?”

I leaned forward and pressed a soft kiss to her lips. “Not at all. You’re such a gentle person, Bella, and being happy they suffered tells me how much you endured at their hands.”

“I feel like I can breathe for the first time in my life even though I have broken ribs.”

“Give yourself time, sweetheart, and I know you’ll soar.”

“Do you still want me to stay here with you?”

“I do.” I felt the frown crease my face.

“Quinn?”

“I need to do something, I’ll be back.”

After standing, I kissed her forehead and my intention was to head to my bedroom but I was stopped by Lynetta who had a tray in her hands.

“Quinn, Connor is here and said he needs to speak with you.”

What now? I made my way to the living room where Connor was seated on the couch.

“Something wrong?”

Connor shook his head. “We cleaned up after the party and before we left, one of Alex’s men delivered a message.”

When Connor didn’t continue, I joined him on the couch.

“What message?”

“Tate Palmer and four of his cameramen/goons arrived in Popondetta about an hour ago.”

“For fuck’s sake, will this shit never end?”

“Alex had four of his men posted keeping an eye out for them. Apparently Tania explained about their human trafficking and porn business.”

A smile spread across my face; I had a pretty good idea of where this was headed. “What happened?”

“Well, as you know, the Bonello compound still has a long way to go but Alex and a number of his men have homes and they have their own version of the shed. Tate and his men were ’invited’ to party.” Connor glanced at his watch. “About now the crocs will be feasting on the almost dead bodies.”

“Did I tell you I’m liking Bonello more and more?”

“You’ve come a long way in your opinion of him since our first meeting.”

“Let’s just say I was wrong and after all the help he’s given us lately, I’m very pleased I was.”

Connor pushed onto his feet. “My lady is waiting so I’ll catch you later. “How’s Arabella?”

“The woman is remarkable. She must be in enough pain to cause a grown man to cry yet she barely whimpers.”

Connor scowled. “That’s because she has become accustomed to pain and able to deal with even the worst of injuries. I swear if the pricks weren’t dead, I’d kill them again. I’ll let you get back to her.”

“I was going to get Granny Ethel’s ring…”

I left the rest hanging in the air between us and watched as a huge grin spread across Connor’s face before he pulled me into a hug and slapped my back.
