“Everyone clear on positions and your job? I want us in, out, and every motherfucker left dead…” Connor glanced at me. “…except the arsehole chief, but if you can’t get him alive, blow the fucker’s head off.”
The group of men standing with us at the compound gate nodded. They were clear on what was required.
“Okay, let’s get…”
The screech of tires as two vehicles came to a stop at the compound gates had us all drawing weapons and going on alert.
Gabim jumped from one of the cars and sprinted towards where we stood. The blood in my veins ran cold when I couldn’t sight Arabella. Where the fuck was she?
“Connor, Quinn,” Gabim shouted.
Connor, Jake, and I hurried towards him.
“They’ve got her. She left with the doctor to have the test done and when she didn’t return, we went looking for her. The doctor is in the car, she said Tchokai has Arabella.”
I roared in anger, but before I could attack Gabim for disobeying an order, Jake and Connor grabbed hold of my arms and held me back.
“Bring the bitch here,” Connor ordered.
Gabim sprinted back to where his car was being guarded by Edward and Cofias. A woman was dragged from the car, her hands bound in front, and when she reached where we stood, Gabim pushed her to her knees.
“I’m okay.” I growled.
Connor and Jake released me and I approached the woman on the ground. Grabbing a fistful of her hair, I yanked her head back.
“Where did he take her?”
“The village. They’re booked on a flight back to Moresby later tonight.”
“Who are you?”
Jake stepped up beside me and kicked her beneath the chin to force her eyes to mine. She let out an ear piercing scream.
“Dr. Denise Innes. Arabella took an instant dislike to this bitch but didn’t know why. We know now, don’t we…Bitch?” Jake nailed her in the ribs and she tried to drop to the ground to relieve the pain but I kept hold of her hair, not allowing her to curl in on herself and find relief.
“You listened to her story. You heard what she’d been through for years! Why? Why the fuck did you hand her back to a man you knew had brutally abused her. WHY? WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU DO THAT TO HER?” Jake raged. He was angrier than I’d ever seen him.
“WHY?” Jake screamed again.
“He’s my brother and she’s his wife. Arabella had no right to leave her husband.”
I glanced at Connor who was as shocked as I was on finding out the bitch was Tchokai’s sister.
“Well, this throws a new light on things. Get her up,” Connor ordered.
“Wh…what are you going to do with me now?”
Connor stepped up into her face as Jake held her. “We are going to show you what it’s like to exist in hell.”
Connor stripped the clothes from her body. I flipped out my pen knife and sliced the long, thick ponytail from her head before cutting away her hair to no more than tufts all over her scalp. Bending down, I ripped the shoes from her feet. While Jake held her, I recovered a thick rope from Olga which I knotted firmly around her neck.
“Change of plans men,” Connor started and the men milled around.”
He instructed the men to remain in the groups as chosen. Instead of coming in from the sides and rear of the village, Connor wanted them to now fan out along the southern boundary.
“Jake, Quinn, and I will take our men to the south entrance of the village as planned along with this bitch. As soon as we recover Arabella I’ll fire a shot in the air. Move in, fire off the rockets, grenades, and start shooting. I want every motherfucker dead.”
The men murmured in agreement, they’d all heard about the horrors carried out by the secretive sect over the years and a few suspected their family members had lost their lives at their hands. I didn’t think any of them would feel a scrap of remorse after we’d disposed of the arseholes.
