Barry rested a hand on my thigh and answered using his freaky mind-reading abilities. “I was wondering when you’d have the guts to ask.”
I lifted my head. “You hadn’t mentioned it when you talked about my long-term prognosis with everything else.”
“I needed you to ask that particular question when you were ready to hear the answer.”
Fuck, that didn’t sound good. Tears burned behind my eyes.
“Are you ready to know?”
“Am I ready?” I shook my head. “No, but sooner or later, I need to know if I won’t be able to perform. It might as well be now.”
“The penile fracture was severe, but what made it worse was the trauma you’d suffered prior. The skin was shredded, much like the rest of your body, making repair difficult.”
“Get to the point.”
“The point, young man, is… physically, in about eight weeks, you will be every bit as capable of performing like a man as you were before this happened.”
“But?”
“You will need to get past the mental issues.”
“Mental issues?”
“Consciously, you’ll be well aware your cock can perform as normal. Sub-consciously, you might be afraid of it failing, which in turn, will cause that very thing to happen. I discussed what might help get past your fears with Connor.”
“And…?”
“I was pretty sure you wouldn’t consider seeing a psychiatrist, so I think, once you’re ready, it would be a good idea to avail yourself of one of the whores at the brothel. One you don’t know well and who you won’t suffer embarrassment with if things don’t work the first couple of times. Someone who will know the situation and be able to guide you through.”
“Sounds like you have someone in mind?”
Barry nodded. “Connor suggested Imelda.”
“She’s a lesbian and only fucks women or Connor.”
“Connor is sure she’ll help you. She has proven she can keep her mouth shut and won’t gossip if things take a while to work through.”
“Thanks, it makes me feel better knowing I won’t make a fool of myself.”
Barry clapped me on the shoulder. “How about we break you out of here? The plane arrived at Rabaul Airport a short time ago and I’ve already dropped the others back. It’s just you and me they’re waiting on. Herias will collect the vehicle later after we leave.”
“Why are we still here then?”
Barry laughed. “Let me grab a wheelchair.”
“I can walk.”
Barry tilted his head, a smug grin on his lips. “Really? Have you forgotten about the cast on your leg and the fact there is no chance of you being able to use crutches? Not to mention you’ll still be as weak as a kitten.”
Fuck, he was right. I had no hope of walking. “Bastard.”
Barry laughed before heading to get the chair. He wasn’t gone long, and by the time he’d helped me on, I was puffing like a steam train, sweating rivers, and felt ill from the pain. Yep, I wasn’t walking anywhere anytime soon.
