“M-Max.” She sobbed his name.

His breath brushed her ear. “Such a good girl.”

Her body broke apart. Tremors undulated under her skin, and she convulsed, thrusting, thrusting, striving toward relief. This time she didn’t care if the entire building heard her holler. She had no control over the way she reacted to the intensity of the orgasm that rushed through her loins.

Mere seconds later, Maxwell succumbed to ecstasy. His thrusts became more violent, more ferocious, more powerful. He dropped his head on her shoulder as he emptied into the condom, whispering a list of curses as his body quaked, quivered, and shook.

She had no idea how he managed to keep them from collapsing to the floor. The hand on the wall holding up her thigh remained in place. His other hand continued to support the leg wrapped around him. She could hear his harsh breath pushing through his nose, matching the sound of her own heavy breathing.

After what seemed like an eternity, Maxwell lifted his head. He dragged his tongue along the curve of her jawline and pressed a soft kiss to the corner of her mouth.

“Where’s your bedroom?”

Jasmine lowered her bare feet to the floor and led the way, with him close behind her, his hands on her hips.

“What’s that scent you’re wearing?” Maxwell asked, nuzzling her neck.

“It’s called cherries jubilee.” She leaned back against him and allowed his strength to provide support as they walked into her bedroom.

Jasmine turned on a lamp, and his eyes swept the interior.

“You have a lot of pillows.” He stared at the pile on the bed.

She shoved most of them to the floor. “Better?”

“Much.” He tilted his head, his dark eyes assessing. “I hope you don’t have plans tomorrow.”

“Why do you say that?”

“I’m wearing you out tonight. You’re gonna need your rest.”

She let out an unsteady laugh, but he didn’t crack a smile. He was dead serious, and that made her blood pump hotter and faster in anticipation of the rest of the night.

The tips of her breasts still stung from the attention he had paid her nipples, yet she wanted more. She wanted everything he had to offer.

Jasmine had never known desire like this. She had never known need like this. It was all-consuming and made her heart race. It made her stomach fill with the rapid-fire flutter of butterfly wings.

Maxwell pushed her onto her stomach and teased the cleft of her bottom with the weight of his erection. She moved restlessly on the sheet, arching her back and curling her fingers into the pillows. Her sighs of pleasure filled the room from his thorough lovemaking. He explored her with caresses and tantalizing tongue lashings. The curve of her hip fell prey to the edge of his teeth, while her knees and calves bore the brunt of his kisses.

Rolling in the bed, they made love with the ease and familiarity of long-time lovers. Maxwell stroked her swollen sex until she shivered and begged, and she caressed his hard length, making him reach for her with urgency.

When their bodies joined together, she was on top, riding him with slow, sensual turns of her hips. As she neared the climax, he whispered words of encouragement. “Just like that. Almost there.”

The second orgasm came with waves of excruciating pleasure. It made her forget her own name and washed over her with an intensity that left her gasping and reeling until she collapsed onto his chest.

Maxwell flipped her onto her back and stretched her hands above her head. “You’re so damn pretty when you come.”

He drilled between her thighs, groaning in her ear until his own body exploded. Then his lips sought hers, and she kissed him deeply and demandingly, as if kissing him was what she had been put on this Earth to do.

Jasmine knew right then this night would live in her memory for a very long time to come.

Chapter Four

Maxwell checked his reflection in the hallway mirror one last time. His hair was neatly cut and his full beard trimmed. Although he had looked fine on Friday night, he’d gone to the grooming lounge on Saturday after leaving Jasmine’s apartment.

He paused for a moment, reflecting on the night they had shared. He had been tempted to leave his number on her nightstand but recalled what she had said at the club.

I’m not looking for anything serious.
