I pull back, nervous that we’ll be caught as my eyes dart around the room. But then the champagne does the talking for me. I step closer to him so our bodies are flush together, and I reach up and pull his head down to mine. I open my mouth to his, kissing him right here in the middle of this club. Well, more than kissing, if we’re being honest. We’re making out like two drunk teenagers.
It’s a little extra thrilling knowing anyone could catch us, but everyone left. It’s just us here. Maybe Ivy forgot her purse and will be back. Maybe Madden wasn’t quite done with that glass of whiskey.
Theoretically, someone we know could see us. And given that this is just our second time together in forty-eight hours despite knowing each other for years, given that I’m going through a divorce and Liam’s future is uncertain…we don’t want people we know to see us. We don’t want to ruin Everleigh’s weekend.
I’m not ready for labels. But there’s nothing to label. It’s just sex.
Well, and I’m moving in with him.
So that might be complicated. I’ll deal with it when I’m sober.
He pulls back first. “I need to fuck you again like I need to breathe.”
I moan at his words as butterflies erupt in my chest.
His words have the power to nearly send me into an orgasm, but I want his cock to do the work there. Or his mouth. I’m not super picky.
I grab his hand and pull him out of the club, and I spot Madden waiting at the end of a hallway with a restroom sign marked above it, so I drop Liam’s hand.
He glances at me, and I can feel his look asking why the fuck did you stop holding my hand, but I angle my head toward his brother, and he takes the hint.
Madden spots us, and we walk in his direction since we have to pass by him to get out of this hotel and back to ours.
“Just waiting for Kennedy. You two calling it quits already?” he asks.
Liam nods. “I’m beat, and Everleigh tasked me with making sure her maid of honor got back to her room safely.”
Madden claps him on the shoulder. “What a guy.”
Liam laughs.
“You ready to call it a night?” Madden asks me.
I nod. “It was an early morning getting the kids off to school, and I worked most of the day before I flew out.”
“Understood. You two have a good night. See you at brunch?”
“I’ll be there,” I say at the same time Liam says, “See you then.”
We head back to the Cosmopolitan, walking close to each other but without touching just in case anyone else should happen to be around. It’s surprisingly difficult not to grab his hand. I have to consciously remind myself not to.
“What floor are you on?” he asks when we step onto the elevator. He flashes his key and presses thirty-eight.
“Same.” I nod toward the keypad as the doors close, surprised that we’re the lone two on this elevator.
“What room are you in?” he asks.
“Thirty-eight seventy-two. You?”
“Thirty-eight eighty-four.”
I raise a brow. “Interesting. Just a few doors down.”
He takes a step toward me, and another, until he’s pinning me against the mirrored wall behind us.
“You want to go to your room or mine?” he asks, his nose brushing mine.
I tilt my chin to catch his lips with mine, and I pull back. He’s still in my orbit, his nose running along mine again.
