She will, though; she’s going to know him very well when he beats her within an inch of her life at the fight next weekend.

The thought pisses me off and makes my cock throb at the same time.

On the one hand, I want to see her learn a lesson, but the idea of another man putting his hands on her…

I feel my anger rise and push the thought away.

“Very good, yes, Isaac is fantastic at watching. We all have our things, don’t we?”

“So you just wave some money around, and people let you do whatever you want?” Her words drip with disgust and a hint of disbelief. I can’t say I blame her; even I’m amazed at how easily people can be bought sometimes, and I grew up like this. I imagine for a girl like her, it would be nearly unimaginable.

If only she really understood.

I can’t help but laugh.

“Yes, that would work, but that's not what this is. You’ll find we have much more than money. Power works even better. And fear…” I trail off, letting her mind take that as she will. She’s a smart girl after all.

Her face screws up, and her eyes flick back to Isaac, who now stands a few feet behind her. Again, I see that delicious flash of panic in her eyes that makes me want to hold her down and…

“Don’t get comfortable. You won’t be staying.”

Her eyes snap back to me, where they belong, and narrow, but she keeps her mouth closed.

That won’t do, though, will it?

Jace told Isaac that our dear sister has claws, and judging by that gash in his thigh, I believe him, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want to see them.

I hold her gaze for a moment longer before I nod Isaac toward the door. He moves around her, getting much closer than is usual for him, but she doesn’t so much as flinch, and I wonder if perhaps I’ve been missing something.

“And don’t bother trying anywhere else. I’ve taken the liberty of ensuring nobody will rent to you in a fifty-mile radius of your precious school.”

With him out the door, I move to follow, though I want to do anything but.

I pause in the doorway, feeling her eyes attempt to burn a hole in the back of my head. I turn to find that her earlier annoyance is quickly turning into anger.

Good.

“Oh, and one last thing, in case that’s not enough of a deterrent. The next apartment you go to look at, I'll burn down, with everyone in it.”

I fucking mean it too, and I know she sees the truth of my words in my eyes before I turn away, letting the door fall closed behind me.

Her scream of frustration is like music to my ears as I walk back to the car with a smile on my face that I can’t manage to shake, no matter how I try.

Our dear sister will learn her place, and soon she will see it’s beneath me.

Friday Morning

“I’m not sure she has anything presentable,” Kolson tells me as he sits in the den, going over everything for tonight’s ‘warm-up,’ as we’ve come to call it.

There’s only one week until Tank and Vixen go head to head in our biggest event to date, and it’s been sold out for weeks.

Not long ago, I’d been excited as well, but with each day, I worry more about how we’re going to explain our sister ending up in the hospital or worse.

Tank earned his nickname, and putting Zela up against him seems like a terrible idea.

“I trust you can make sure she’s presentable?” It’s an insulting question, and the glare I give Kol lets him know I think as much, yet he still waits for me to verbally respond.

“Yes.”
