It most definitely did.

I was sure he’d hit the ever-living-shit out of me now and was well prepared for it when he nonchalantly glanced at his ass.

“So what are you waiting for? Clean me up.”

He turned back around, flopping onto his arms as if sunbathing.

“You’re not mad?” My brows drew inward as I bent closer to him.

“Things like this are bound to happen. Besides, it’s my fault for pushing you this time.”

Shocked, I stared at him. But remembering my task, I grabbed a towel from one of the shelves.

Still trying to make sense of everything going through my head, his voice felt like a distant sound until he called my name, and I looked up.

“Yeah?”

He stared at me, annoyance written on his face. “Have you listened to a word I just said?”

I nodded, brushing a hand through my hair and finally getting up. “Yeah, sorry. I’ll get my brother and go home.”

“Good.” He then bent down, picked something up off the floor, and handed me my shirt. But I didn’t take it, at least not immediately, and instead continued to stare at his hand, remembering how he’d held mine only a little while ago. The same sense of suffocating warmth took over me and—

“Ari.”

“What is it?”
