“I miss you, too,” I said, eyes focusing on the busy streets of Tokyo. It was so different from New York, in every way possible, from the billboard signs to the sound of traffic, culture, and even the taste of water. And yet, there was only one thing I lacked.

Daniel Williams.

My Daniel Williams.

The week before I left Manhattan, we’d met nearly every day. At first, I was sure he’d freak out as he had before and would tell me this was all one big mistake, but… he didn’t. Instead, he sent me flowers to the set—lavender, my favorite—went for a jog with me, took me to the ballet and a cute little restaurant in Chinatown. The spring rolls we ate there were the best I had ever tasted, and the sex we had after was simply… phenomenal. But the problem with spending such a wonderful week together was that it wasn’t enough. It made me hungry for more, and now, almost a month later, I was practically starving for him.

“So how’s Japan?”

His question snapped me out of my head, and moving away from the window, I walked back to sit on the bed.

“The people are nice, very polite.” I slumped down, my head hitting the pillow. “They’re also very thin.” I chuckled. “I’m so big next to them.”

He tsked. “Nonsense. You’re as thin as a feather.”

“Here, I’m not.” I rested the back of my palm against my forehead. “I swear, the girls are so slim and the men, too. I’m jealous.”

“Don’t be. If anything, I bet they think you’re stunning.”

Reaching my hand forward, I examined my fingers. “Mhmmm… I doubt it.” I tilted my head, eyes focusing on my knuckles. “I mean, even my knuckles are chubby.”

“What on earth does that even mean?”

“That I have hot dog fingers.” The “hot dog” I said in English, causing Daniel to laugh.

“You’re speaking nonsense. In fact, I find your hands to be extremely elegant.”

“I don’t know…” I brought my hand down. “What are you doing now?”

“I’m in my car.”

“The Rolls-Royce?” I grinned, thinking of his fancy car.

“Yes.”

“What about your driver?”

“He’s got the day off.”

I flipped to my stomach. “Are you driving now?”

“No. I’m in the parking lot of my office building.” He sighed. “What’s with all the questions?”

“I’m just curious.” I shrugged, a smile on my face. “Are you alone?”

“Elliot—”

“Yes?”

“This isn’t the time for it.”

Chuckling, I tried to imagine the foul look on his face. I loved it when he frowned and two thick lines formed on his jaw. “Time for what? I didn’t say anything.”

“But you indicated it.”

“Indicated what?”

“We can’t have phone sex,” he grunted, although he fooled no one with that strict tone.
