The million-dollar question of a stoner. The problem was, I had no idea.

In the course of six months, my whole life had turned upside down, and the Jordan Keller I thought I knew was gone. I had hopes and dreams that were no longer relevant. A lifestyle that was no longer attainable and friends with whom I no longer had anything in common. The identity I built for the past eighteen years was erased because of my father’s greediness, and there was nothing I could do about it.

“I have no idea,” I said, which was scary to admit.

Jess chuckled. “It’s okay, you know. We’re in high school. We have the rest of our lives to figure that shit out.”

It was amazing how easily he took life. The smile on his face and the sound of his laugh told me he truly believed his words.

“Oh, thank God!” someone gasped, and all three of us looked at Miles, who was trying to catch his breath. “I was looking all over for you.”

His dark hair was tousled, and his clothes, which were always on point, looked rumpled.

“You were looking for us? Like hide and seek?” Jess giggled, and Miles grunted.

“Are you high?”

Drawing his index finger and thumb close together, Jess smiled. “Just a little bit.”

“Oh, for God’s sake.” Miles rested his hand on his waist. “Shay-Lee caught Diesel in bed with Chloe, his ex, and now there’s a bloodbath over there. They’re a minute away from killing each other, and Andrei told me to get you two.”

Holy fucking shit.

“Wow. That’s not good,” Jess rumbled when Levi gripped his arm and forced him to stand up.

“Yeah. Not good at all,” Miles said. “Let’s hurry up.”

We ran toward the main house, noticing how all the others did the same. The news of a fight always spread like a wildfire among teenagers.

“What are you doing?” Miles asked Levi, who had pulled out his phone and was dialing a number.

Ignoring Miles, Levi spoke into his phone. “Hello, I’m calling to report a party with underage drinking.”

Was he calling the cops? He sure as hell was. After giving the address, he hung up and shoved his phone back into his pocket.

“Why did you do that?” Miles looked shocked, and I shared his confusion.

“Once they hear the sirens, they’ll stop fighting and start running. No one here wants to get arrested.”

Oh, shit. That’s smart.

“Thanks for letting me crash here,” Shay-Lee said as I opened the door to my motel room.

“No problem.” I scratched my jaw as we entered the cramped space that was the size of a shoe box. “But why didn’t you want me to drive you to your house?”

The moment the sirens sounded at the party tonight, everyone fled. On his way out, Shay-Lee pulled me with him, and after the cops left Ty’s house, he asked me to drive his G-Wagon since he was too drunk. At first, I thought he wanted me to drop him off at his house, but then he surprised me and asked if he could stay at my place.

“Oh, my dad’s girlfriend is there tonight, and I sort of hate her,” he said as he walked in and made himself at home. “It’s a nice room.”

“It’s a shithole.” I closed the door behind me.

“Nah, it’s cozy. Where’s your mom?” He stood by the small kitchen table with his hands shoved in his pockets. He didn’t fit in this setting. He was too impressive, too stunning, to be standing in this small, tiny gray room that smelled like musty old carpet and leftover junk food.

“She’s working until the morning.” I went over to the small cabinet where I kept most of my clothes. “I’ll find you something to sleep in while you take a shower. The water isn’t too cold, so it’s fine.” I was embarrassed by this place, but at the same time, I was happy he was here.

“I’ll just sleep in my boxers.” Luckily, I had my back to him so he couldn’t see how my face turned red. I literally felt the blood rushing to my cheeks. Once I heard the door to the bathroom close, I dropped the folded clothes from my hands and slumped my ass on the floor. The thought of Shay-Lee naked and wet while cleaning his hot body in the next room had my cock stirring to life, and heat rushed up my neck to the tips of my ears. Fuck, I wished I could shower with him.
