“What is it that you want to say, Jess?” I asked, finally letting go of Miles.
“Oh shit, you heard me?”
“Kind of hard not to.” Miles laughed as he poked his head over my shoulder and looked behind me, where I assumed Jess was. As I turned my body, I saw Levi and Jess walking toward us.
“I ruined your moment. I did, didn’t I?”
“Don’t worry about it,” I said as I gestured for him to come and sit beside us, which he did immediately.
He looked adorable today, with a bright orange crop top and loose beige pants that sat low on his hips, showing off the dark ink on his tan skin. Clothes always looked great on his tall, lean frame, and he wore whatever he found pretty, whether it was a dress or a pair of old jeans and army boots.
“Is Miles coming with us to Fool’s Moon tonight?” he asked with his chin resting on my shoulder. Today he had pink eyeshadow that went along with the small heart and stars stickers on his cheeks.
“Yeah, of course I am. And I love the stickers.” Miles poked Jess’s cheek with his finger. Jess giggled before he jumped from behind me and squeezed between Miles and me.
“So. Do you want me to do your makeup tonight?” He pushed closer toward Miles. “I bought a new rose palette, and it will look so good on your skin.” Jess loved makeup. He wasn’t a femboy, just a dude who liked colors. He often said that makeup and clothes belonged to everyone, regardless of gender. I totally agreed with him on that.
“Sorry, but I don’t put on makeup.” Miles chuckled. “Although I love yours.”
Jess pouted his lips. “Levi did it for me this morning. He gave me extra stickers. Aren’t they cute? I also have an extra kitten sticker in my bag if you want it.” He spoke enthusiastically, then he suddenly froze. “Oh no, my bag. Where is it?”
“I have it,” Levi said as he raised Jess’s leopard print bag in his hand. “Don’t worry.”
“You’re the best, babydoll!” Jess jumped from between us and tangled himself around his boyfriend. They exchanged a few kisses before settling down again. With Jess still wrapped around him, Levi turned to face us.
“We’re done with classes for today, so we’ll meet at home.”
“What about Diesel?” I asked.
“No clue. I doubt he even came today.” Levi shrugged before grabbing Jess’s neck. “Let’s go, Kotik.”
“Kotik?” Miles murmured from beside me.
“It means Kitten in Russian,” I explained and watched as his brows pulled together.
“Wait, so Levi also speaks Russian?”
“I do,” Levi called from where he was pulling Jess behind him. “See you guys later.”
We didn’t dive deeper into Levi’s pedigree because we chose to spend the rest of the time before my next class eating each other’s faces, which left me with blue balls and a hunger for more. A lot more.
Chapter 20
Miles
“Are we in the right place?” I asked as Andrei parked the truck in what looked like a wasteland. The last rays of light lit up the desert in red hues, and I looked at Andrei with doubt. Other than us, there were broken train tracks and an old fishing boat covered with rust. I had no idea how either got here, considering we were in the middle of nowhere.
“Yeah, we’re in the right place.” Andrei laughed before he got out of the car and joined Jessie and Levi, who were already waiting for us outside. After a moment of hesitation and against my voice of reason, I got out myself.
The desert air was chilly, and my clothes didn’t prepare me for it. Because Andrei described it as a rave, I dressed in a white tank top cut a bit under my chest and white cargo that rode low on my waist. I also wore the new pair of pink Ranieri sneakers Papa bought me, but they did nothing against the cold.
“I thought you trusted me.” Andrei smirked as he grabbed my hand and pulled me closer.
“Trust issues, remember?”
He smiled before he looked over at where Jessie and Levi were standing. “We good to go?”
“Hell to the yes!” Jessie screamed and jumped in the air. As he promised, his rose makeup matched the pink outfit he wore. He looked like a bag of heart emojis, while beside him was Levi, dressed in black skinny jeans and a simple black shirt.
