I place my palms on his chest, tipping my head back so I can look up into his eyes. His gaze is focused on mine, connected, and I couldn’t tear my eyes from his even if I wanted to.
“Slade,” I exhale, which causes his lips to twitch.
He shifts his face closer to mine, and I feel his nose slide along mine before his mouth touches my own. I suck in a breath, holding it for a moment in anticipation of his kiss. But he doesn’t kiss me, at least not immediately. Instead, he speaks.
“She thought she could do the same thing to Dare’s old lady that she tried to do to you. Didn’t work out in her favor at all. Now she’s waiting for her ride, and she’s been told to never come back.”
“Dare banned her?” I ask, my lips moving against his. I almost lose track of the conversation because I freaking love the way his mouth feels anywhere on my body. Any-fucking-where.
“Dare banned her,” he murmurs. “Old ladies are protected within these walls and outside of them. Nobody talks down to them, and clubwhores are supposed to respect them always. She’s not even supposed to talk to you, let alone Dare’s wife. He’s the president.”
Sliding my hands down his chest, I grip the hem of his shirt, then slip my fingers beneath it. I think about Dare and his wife. I haven’t met her yet, but the fact that he kicked Rocky out over something she said to her makes me want to know exactly who this woman is. I want to give her a hug, because no way in hell would that bitch be gone if it weren’t for her.
Gently, I scratch the muscles on his lower belly, my breathing growing faster and harder with each passing second. I open my mouth to ask him something, though I’m not sure what exactly. Thankfully, I don’t have to. He slips his tongue inside me, tasting me, and then it’s done.
Control snapped.
Clothes are flying, and then my ass is tugged to the edge of the desk, and he’s inside me.
Yum.
This is something I never knew I wanted—to be completely obsessed with a man and have him feel the same, but in the best ways.
“I love you, Slade.”
He smiles against my mouth. “Honey, I love you more than you could ever know.”
Talking is over now, though. His mouth slams against mine, his tongue slips inside, and all thoughts vanish. Except one—I’ve never felt more loved, cherished, and appreciated than I have with Slade.
I’m holding on with both hands, and I will never let go.
Not ever.
Not in a million damn years.
CHAPTER
SIXTY-SIX
LOOT
“What do you think?” I ask, looking down at Cade.
He wrinkles his nose, then shakes his head once. We’re spending the day together, just us. It’s been a whirlwind since he started living with me, and I want to spend some one-on-one time together, but I also want to make sure he’s good with my plans.
Because the plans I have affect him, too.
“Doesn’t like this one,” I murmur, sliding the item across the glass case.
The woman dips her chin, then takes out something else. It’s bigger, likely with a higher price tag as well. “Would you prefer something more like this?” she asks.
“No,” Cade states, almost a bit harshly.
I watch as he walks away from me a few steps and then stops. He extends his arm, his finger pointing at something in the case, before he turns his head and looks over at the saleswoman.
“This is the one.”
Closing the distance between us, I look down at the item he’s insistently pointing to. It’s blue, yellow, white, and gold. I couldn’t even begin to guess what stones they are. The woman behind the counter opens the case and takes out the item in question.
