“That’s because you haven’t met her yet. Strong Shifters have crumbled under the weight of her disapproving stare.”

“I eat disapproving stares for breakfast. Besides, I do come with the notable recommendation of having tied you down.”

He shook his head. “Don’t say I didn’t warn you. I’m going to go fill in Hel and the others.”

Meredith stopped him. “Jensen? About Serenity. I know you’re pissed about her calling your grandmother, and that’s your right, but we both know she only called her because of me.”

“What’s your point?” he asked, guarded.

“My point is, I don’t think you talking to her about us is going to make her any friendlier toward me. I think you should let me do it.”

“How is you talking to her going to make it better? She hates you.”

“Maybe. But again, you aren’t going to change that. Trust me. I’ve been where she is right now. I can handle it.”

He blew out a breath. He didn’t see how she was going to bring Serenity around, but he also didn’t see how he was. If Meredith wanted to dive into those waters... “She’s all yours.” His phone buzzed again.

Grams: What kind of music does she like?

Oh, for heaven’s sake.

He’d searched through the phone settings to turn off messaging notifications before he realized that he wasn’t irritated that Grams was asking the questions, he was irritated he didn’t know the answers.

Oh, hell. “Hey, when’s your birthday?”
