“Of course.”
“We’ll see you soon, sweetheart. Look after our girl, Calvin,” Dad instructs.
“With my life,” Calvin promises before turning us around and leading me to security.
I blow out a long breath and snuggle tighter into his side as we get into the line.
“I hate saying goodbye,” I mutter into his chest.
“Whenever you want to see them, all you need to do is say the word, and I’ll get the flights booked. Us to them, or them to us.”
I gaze up at him through my tears, eternally grateful that we found our way back into each other’s lives.
“I love you,” I say, squeezing him tightly around the middle.
“I love you too, darlin’.”
I must say, flying first class did soften the blow of leaving my parents and brother behind. Having Calvin hold my hand almost the entire way home helped as well.
“So, my place or yours?” he asks after we’ve found my car and started the short drive home.
“I need to go to mine to get your gift.”
“Yours then.”
“We can go up to yours. I haven’t had much chance to snoop around yet.”
“Oh yeah?” he teases.
“And I’m going to need to make sure there hasn’t been any bird invasion while we’ve been gone.”
“Christ, don’t remind me. I screamed like a little bitch, didn’t I?”
“What? No, of course not,” I say, but the words don’t sound as genuine as I was hoping.
“Liar,” he teases.
“Maybe it was just a little bit girly.”
He chuckles as he drives.
Honestly, is there anything hotter than a man driving? The way their hands grip the wheel, the way it makes the muscles in their forearms ripple.
“Promise me you won’t tell anyone. My rep can’t handle me handing my balls over to one woman and screaming like a girl, too.”
Now it’s my turn to laugh. “Promise.”
“Phew,” he says, wiping his hand across his brow as if the thought of everyone knowing his secret was making him sweat.
No sooner does he pull into my space than he’s out of the car, grabbing our luggage and leading me toward the elevator.
“I love coming home with you.”
“Same,” I say, allowing him to back me into the corner of the elevator.
“I can’t wait to have you all to myself again,” he says as he kisses down my throat.
“You had me alone every night since you arrived in Idaho.”
