Liam licked his lips.

Then he took my hand again and led me out of the kitchen.

In the bedroom, we started to strip off our clothes, but reality caught up, and it was my turn to freeze.

Liam tensed. “What?”

“I, uh…” I glanced at him, then down at myself, before meeting his gaze again. “Just… I’m pushing fifty and I am not a professional athlete. So…”

He smiled and shook his head. Sliding his hands up my chest, he said, “Baby, I’ve been with plenty of guys who weren’t pro athletes.”

I eyed him. “And how many were on the wrong side of forty-five?”

Chuckling, he rolled his eyes. “Oh come on. You’ve only got ten years on me.” He kissed me, dragging his bottom lip across mine until I whimpered. “You’ll have to try harder than that to turn me off.”

“I don’t want to turn you off.” I ran my fingertips up his back. “I just… want to keep your expectations realistic.”

“My only expectation is that I’m going to make you come, and then I’m going to beg you to do the same.”

My breath stuttered. “Holy shit, you have a dirty mouth.”

“That a bad thing?”

“Not at all.” I curved my hand behind his head and pulled him into another kiss. When I let him go, we were both out of breath, and I met his gaze, reveling in the lust gleaming in those gorgeous dark eyes. “Fuck it. Clothes off.”

He grinned and let me go. After that, we stripped everything off without any self-consciousness or fanfare, and I joined him in that huge bed.

As he settled beside me, though, a wince flickered across his face.

I touched his unbruised cheek. “You okay?”

Lips still taut, he nodded. “Just—it was a hell of a game tonight, and I’m feeling every minute of it.”

“Are you sure you still want to—”

“Yes,” he rasped, covering my hand with his. “We won’t be swinging from the chandeliers, but I’m pretty sure we can still have a good time.”

I slid my hand from his face into his hair and leaned in to kiss him. “I don’t need anything like that. I just want you.”

The way he melted against me was too sexy for words. Was he surprised that I wanted him? Was he surprised that literally any queer man on the planet wanted him, least of all the almost-fifty single dad batting light years out of his league?

Maybe. Maybe not.

Either way, I kissed him deep and hard, sliding my hands all over him. I wanted to make absolutely sure I left zero room for him to doubt that I wanted him.

“I have no idea how I got here without getting a speeding ticket,” I whispered. “But now that I’m here, I don’t want to do anything fast.”

Liam ran his tongue along his bottom lip, unaware of how that made my spine tingle and my toes curl. “Yeah?”

“Mmhmm. I don’t just mean the acrobatic shit—I just…” I trailed my fingers down his abs, loving the way his breath hitched as the muscles contracted. “Want to go slow. Enjoy everything.”

He bit his lip as he arched. “I’m not in any hurry for anything now that you’re here.”

I grinned, then claimed his mouth. All the way here, I’d pondered risking a reckless driving ticket because I couldn’t get into his presence soon enough. Now that I was in his arms and in his bed, I was happy to slow right down. I wanted to savor every kiss, every touch, every breath. It didn’t need to be acrobatic or wild; as long as he was turned on and enjoying himself, the details didn’t matter.

I pushed myself up and met his gaze. Oh, God, he was so sexy. Those sharp features. Those deep brown eyes. The way his lips were ever so slightly swollen from kissing. His wanton, needy expression would be in my fantasies for a long, long time after tonight.

And I wanted more.
