“Me too.”

He swept his tongue across his lips, which were still faintly swollen. “Worth the wait. Totally.”

“It was, but I also meant what I said.” I kissed him softly before settling onto the pillow facing him. “The sex is amazing, but that’s not the only thing that’s got me driving over here at every opportunity.”

Liam’s soft smile made me weak. “The sex helps, though, right?”

I laughed. “I mean, when I get a text like that, I’m not going to say no.”

He chuckled and reeled me in closer, and for a long time, we lost ourselves in lazily kissing.

I’d damn near had a hard-on the whole drive here from the arena. We’d seen each other outside the locker room after the game, and I’d been so fucking turned on just from the way he’d looked at me. Then, halfway to the parking garage, my phone had pinged, and somehow I’d known before I looked that it was from him.

And still, I’d almost dropped the damn thing when I read what he’d sent.

Liam

Come over and ride my dick. Please.

Sir, yes, sir.

And now here we were, thoroughly satisfied and wrung out, naked beneath the covers. Perfect. Absolutely perfect.

“Are you going to be able to move tomorrow?” I asked.

He chuckled, stroking my hair. “I’ll be fine. Are you going to be able to sit?”

I shrugged. “Eh, it’ll be a nice distraction during the morning staff meeting.”

God, I loved the way he laughed. His smile was so beautiful, and his eyes sparkled with mischief. “Won’t you get in trouble if you’re distracted?”

“Only if someone important catches on.” I brushed my lips across his. “I’ll be fine. And it’ll be totally worth it, anyway.” Sobering a little, I caressed his cheek. “Even if I was sore as hell, I’m just glad we got to spend some time together.”

“Me too.” He kissed me lightly. “It really will be better during the off season.”

“I know it will. And right now…” I half-shrugged and grinned. “I mean, I get to watch you play hockey. I can’t really complain about that.”

He graced me with another beautiful laugh as he drew me in close. We couldn’t stay in this bed forever, and I knew that. That was okay, though. We were here now, wrapped up in each other, warm and satisfied, with nowhere else to be.

In a few short months, the season would be over we’d be able to spend even more time like this.

I couldn’t wait.

“Everyone in my mom group says this stroller is a pain in the ass.” Jasmine gestured at one of about a dozen strollers lined up in the sales display. “It’s hard to fold and doesn’t steer very well.”

Chris nodded along as she spoke. “Okay, so we don’t want that one, then.” He chewed his lip, then turned to me. “What do you think?”

“Uh.” I came around the shopping cart I’d been leaning on and peered at what was available, pretending not to notice the vague aches from last night. I felt weird about this, shopping for baby stuff with them the day after I’d been in Liam’s bed. I loved being able to join them for this, and I was thrilled they wanted me to be involved, but there was a ball of guilt roiling in my stomach.

Unaware of my conscience beating me up, Chris gestured at one of the strollers. “Do we need to be able to carry that much stuff on a stroller? Like I know there’s a diaper bag and all, but this seems like a mini SUV.”

I chuckled nervously. “I mean, you do want some room to carry stuff, but if you find yourself in a place you can’t take the stroller, you’ll have to carry it. Yourself.” Shaking my head, I added, “If you’ve got the extra space, it’ll be tempting to bring extra stuff, but the first time you have to play pack mule…”

They both grimaced.

“Okay, maybe not one with all the extra space.” Jasmine looked up and down the row. “Is there one that’s just, like, big enough for the diaper bag without”—she gestured at the monstrosity they’d rejected—“being that big?”

I walked up and down the row, inspecting each one and resolutely ignoring the way my hip twinged every time I took a step. It had been fine, being distracted by those pleasant aches and pains during this morning’s staff meeting and while I’d been working in my office. It had made me chuckle to myself when I’d walked through the plant to talk to some members of the quality control team. During that painfully long Zoom call where our CFO had rambled on about fuck knew what, all I’d had to do was lean back in my chair, and I went right back to last night. It was a hell of a way to zone out during a bullshit meeting that could’ve been an email.
