Indie groaned and buried her face in my neck again. I wrapped my arms around her, still chuckling.

“You embarrassed, baby?”

“Yes!” she said, her voice muffled against my skin.

I kissed the top of her head, my amusement fading into something softer.

“Don’t be,” I said quietly. “Ain’t nothing to be embarrassed about. You mine. I’m yours. That’s all that matters.”

She lifted her head and looked at me, her eyes searching mine, and then she smiled. A small, genuine smile that made something inside me go soft.

“I love you,” she said again.

“I love you too, Indigo.”

I meant it with everything in me. This woman had changed my life. Made me feel things I never thought I’d feel. And I’d do whatever it took to keep her happy.

Indie

I couldn’t stop smiling. Literally could not stop. My face hurt from how hard I’d been grinning all morning, but I didn’t even care.
