“For all of us, but mostly me. I want to be here, with you, forever. But only if you want me because I’m not settling. Not anymore.”
“I want you. All of you. Just promise if you get scared, you won’t run.”
“I promise,” I said softly.
Brooks leaned down, sealing my promise with his kiss. I pulled at his shirt, and he broke the kiss just long enough to yank it over his head. Then he picked me up, took me back inside, and set me down on the kitchen table. I reached between us and pushed his board shorts down. His cock sprang free, and I stroked it.
Brooks groaned, thrusting against my palm. “That feels so good.”
His hands pushed down into my shorts, and his fingers gripped my ass. I wiggled against him. “Inside me. Now.”
I lifted my hips as he pushed my shorts and panties down. They dangled off one ankle as he lined himself up and pushed into me. I gasped as sensations danced over me.
His hand pushed between us, and his thumb added pressure to my clit. Wave after wave of pleasure hit me, and I chanted his name as I came.
Afterward, we moved to the sofa. I lay on top of him, listening to his strong heartbeat. His fingers drifted over my back.
“That first night,” I said, “you mentioned you can’t have kids.”
Brooks’ hand stilled. “When I was a kid, there was an accident. My best friend drowned, and I almost died. They ran a bunch of tests. Turns out I’ve got an extremely low sperm count.”
When I didn’t say anything, he said, “Do you want kids? Because if you do, we will find a way.”
I shook my head. “No, I don’t think I do. My mom… She was a horrible mother. I’m not her, but I just think some things need to end with us.” I gazed up at him. “I love you, Brooks Callahan.”
He gazed down at me, his arms tightening around me. “I love you, too, Aria Andrews.”
Epilogue
Brooks
One Week Later
I sat at the kitchen table cleaning up the cards from the game of strip poker we’d played when my phone rang.
“Miss me already?” I asked.
Rafi snorted. “Not yet. But I thought you should be the one to make the call. Turns out Roman Pierce is the biological father of an illegitimate child. Guy lives in Sterling Falls, Montana. The kid found out about him three years ago, and they’ve been getting to know each other.”
“And?”
“He has information he wants to trade for a deal.”
“What kind of information?”
“His son has been texting him about a woman he’s obsessed with. The texts are dark, and Pierce says the kid might be acting on them. He’s mentioned an operator you worked with a couple of years ago.”
“Who?”
“Conrad Hayes.”
I stood up. Conrad was one of the best guys I’d ever met. “I’ll talk to Aria. I’d like to help Conrad, but it’s her call.”
I hung up and found Aria in the doorway watching me. “What’s going on?”
I filled her in. “This bastard was going to kill me, and he would have killed my sister.” She shook her head. “I want to see him get everything that’s coming to him. But if getting that information will save someone else… We have to do it.”
“I’ll let Rafi know.”
