Kole sat up. “Luna, the same is happening in Kelvinia. Our female cannot sustain our seed.”
“This is the first I’ve heard of this.” Her father and king had mentioned nothing of the problem affecting the other sectors. “Why the secrecy?”
“It is something no male wants to speak of, female. Offspring are a sense of pride and honor for a male.”
“Not even with the Elemis Council?” Luna questioned.
“Especially with the diplomats. Aging royals cannot appear weak among their counterparts.”
“Why is this happening?” she pondered aloud, licking the juices from her fingers. She’d noticed that none of the newly mated Thornicans had not conceived. The royal family led by example; her father’s mantra drilled through her head. The Queen had produced many heirs, so had her father’s older concubines. But the fertility rate had decreased in the past decade and a half. Did the same hold true in other sectors?
“On patrol, a male has many nights to think. I have a theory.”
Luna perked up, loving that she could converse with this male without fear of attack. Though, she had noticed the hardened ridge of his cock nestled between her cheeks. At his sustained his erection, a thrill went through her at his response.
“Speak, my male,” she said, feeding him from her fingers before serving herself.
He caught her digits. Luna watched as he sucked each one into his mouth. She dizzied as he swirled his tongue around her knuckles, mimicking what he’d done between her legs. Kole released her finger with a wet pop, pure satisfaction softening his features.
“Delicious,” he mouthed.
Luna gasped. He grinned and gave her a playful wink. Wicked male, she mused until his expression turned serious. She should’ve kept feeding him. Then maybe he’d press his lips to hers once more, tantalize her with his chilled tongue. With a full belly, her mind wandered to other carnal delights.
“I believe the radiation exposure that triggered the elemental mutations is evolving. Ice warriors are colder and stronger. And you...” he said, tucking a coil behind her ear.
“What about me?” Luna stiffened, giving Kole a wary glance.
“Even in the water, me, a water elemental warrior, struggled to resist the gravitational pull of your power. I have never felt or witnessed anything close to your abilities, Luna.”
She shrugged, looking away briefly.
“Same here. It’s a little frightening,” she admitted. None could be sure of the lingering effects of the Toxic War. And her powers intensified in Kole’s presence. Somehow, the goddess had made them stronger together than apart.
“And Clod being able to channel his power through solid earth, like a tracking signal. “
“I know you think the future is for us to remain separate, but equal sectors. But, what if I’m right about all elementals being free to live and love who they chose? That we are one peoples with different gifts and abilities. Following the laws of elementals could lead to all our extinction.”
“You really do want to mate with me.” She laughed, enjoying his teasing nature.
He chuckled. “Indeed, it’s true. But, not by trickery. Come. You should rest, female.”
“Afterwards,” she cooed.
Kole cocked a brow, a twisted smirk on his handsome features. “After what, female?”
“As the heir to Thornica, I sanction your research. I shall be the first to welcome you to my private shore. Your seed shall give birth to a new harvest.”
Her male was fearless, but he could be fun too. Luna liked that he differed from the males who usually courted her with their knowledge of the law and their ability to govern.
“A water metaphor.” He chuckled, his eyes clouding with desire. “I shall endeavor to plant my seed deep within your fertile ground.”
“As you have spoken, let the goddess make it so.” Luna studied her male, acknowledging their mating would spark controversy and condemnation, but she knew two truths that bolstered her courage. One, unlike any male of her kind or before him, she wanted to drown in Kole’s eyes. One look and she lost her rudder, totally dependent on his gentle care and compassion. And two, in the deepest part of her heart, she believed the goddess had indeed chosen her for a love such as this... with Kole.
Would Kole be accepted among the earth elementals as her chosen king? She thought of the infidelity in her parent’s marriage bed. She would not succumb to the pressures they were sure to face upon returning to Thornica. Luna was determined to keep her ice warrior.
